Sorry for my late response. From the Zotero standpoint, I understand the obstacle. But I think it must be tackled for the sake of CSL. If a core aim of the CSL specification is to be tool-agnostic, i.e. giving the same formatting regardless of the …

OK, thanks for the suggestions. For now I have done manual corrections in the exported directory list, using 'search and replace' (in leafpad).

Regarding the uppercase extension problem, then maybe this is in 3.1 only (the current stable version). I encountered it in Zotero Standalone with Zotfile 3.1 in both Windows 7 and Bodhi Linux 2.4.0, for different profiles.

Hi, Could it be that a bug is present (or perhaps re-introduced) in ZotFile 3.1, which I see mentioned in the very beginning of this forum thread (Jan 2009)? It concerns the case when the file extension is uppercase, and ZotFile does not (move and…

I am testing Zotfile 3.2b4 now as I find it such a great tool! Does the changelog "Fix bug with unnecessary suffix after multiple renames of same file" mean that duplicate files with suffixes (2, 3,...) are avoided when linking and renaming files, i…

Joscha & adamsmith: I have used my proposed workaround: - clear the index. This reduced the zotero.sqlite file back to 4 MB - I have removed the pdf indexing tools. Importing pdfs and ZotFile-renaming is fast again! I will use the pdf indexi…

OK, can you help me with something I couldn't find out: how can I use an xpi file to upgrade Zotero Standalone to the beta version? If not possible, I guess for now I could also remove the pdftotext and pdfinfo files and rebuild or clear the index, …

Hi Joscha, Thanks for the suggestions. First I must clarify quite some things indeed: - in the end, I want to have everything as linked files on a network drive. I have 165 such items now in 'good shape', renamed etc. This number will become …

Since today I have serious speed issues with the 'rename attachment' functionality of ZotFile. Problem remains even after rebooting the whole system (Win XP). I.e., when I run 'rename' for just one item, it takes about 1 minute to fulfil its job (Zo…

I have taken a look at custom wildcards. As adamsmith suggests, it seems that I will only be able (with my limited skills at least) to work from the fields that are provided with zotero items. So a customizable journal abbreviation style (like …

In my organisation we have a similar issue: if users want to migrate from their EndNote-database (with pdfs linked on a network drive), they need their RIS-records to be converted into zotero items with the original files linked (not attached). …

@adamsmith - the custom wildcard feature sounds great. I will try this; thanks! I indeed noticed the behaviour of adding a "filename2" file when a file named "filename" already exists. I work with links to these pdfs (on network folder). I…

Thanks for this post bwiernik. Please let us know of any advances here. I am confronted with a similar challenge. In my organisation (with EndNote as a standard) we store pdf files on a network drive, including the journal abbreviation in the n…

Thanks for the clear explanation, adamsmith. I did not realize ZotFile can do the reverse. I didn't try out yet, but I expect it will solve my problem.
