Different categories are really just necessary if things are potentially going to be cited according to different rules, which I don't think exist for abstracts. In another thread, someone remarked that one style required '[abstract]' to be appended …

And, I would love to code switches to reduce an author's whole first name to an initial ... Can you tell me how to go about it?Use the 'initialize-with' attribute of the name element.

Isn't this what Zotero is doing at the moment? It was my understanding and all styles created for Zotero are added to the xbiblio project and that Zotero just mirrors xbiblio's CSL directory. Is this not true? That is not true. xbiblio's SVN directo…

For instance, our journals abbreviations are not listed properly in our metadata (this is an easy fix); Are you referring to your own journals (so that you might have a dependent style for each journal & those styles could be easily located by na…

was using the systemwide utilities (0.10.x instead of 3.02 as zotero did) .. but still -- if i wanted to use those features it should work, shouldn't it? :)Your system-wide versions won't work with zotero, as the Zotero devs have made slight modific…

In OO.o Writer (latest versions of everything), your workaround does not seem to work for me; the bibliography is always given the default style. What I do NOT want is for people to be forking these styles just to get around this (very minor) proble…

It is certainly possible to maintain separate databases, but it may be a bit tedious. Having different sync options for different collections or references has been discussed, but is not yet possible.

Did you test the versions of the utilities that are installed in your Zotero directory (and not those that are installed system-wide)? If you aren't indexing PDFs, I don't know why you would want to keep the Zotero versions installed....

Full-text indexing of files can take a while, but there shouldn't be any reason to kill firefox. You can also check that the pdfinfo and the pdftotext that are in your zotero directory are able to run to completion. I'd check with a very short…

If there is an opportunity to add our revised style sheet to the style sheet page, let me know.Refer to the bottom of the styles repository:Commit access is open to all users with SVN/Trac accounts. So, you can request an SVN account & then uploa…

I still think that the Zotero bibliography should use a style other than "default" (it could certainly start out as a style copied from default, but it shouldn't change back to default whenever you refresh the bibliography). You don't need to m…

Check to make sure the URL is the same (no proxies, etc.) & that the preference "Automatically attach associated PDFs and other files when saving items" is checked on both machines.

It is planned, see: https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/364 and search the forums.

This is a known limitation. A partial work around is described at: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/4250/references-in-tables/

That link still works for me. As you've seen on Peter's page, others do report a 404, though: http://www.wallandbinkley.com/quaedam/?p=35 Haven't a clue why & you should probably just ask Peter. Perhaps you have a firewall or proxy that…

A webservice wouldn't be a bad idea; I'm surprised that nothing exists that uses rnv or jing already. I think rnv is fairly trivial to run & it'd be a good idea to have it as part of the online CSL generator. If I'm not mistaken, Zotero's SVN …

mronkko seems to want not a field or bookmark in the comment, but just a plain-text entry. This is certainly possible, though it might or might not be confusing if the insert citation button had this sort of modal behavior. For comments, I don't t…

There are other threads on rich text in fields other than notes. Super/subscript numbers and Greek are already supported by Unicode. Some are using lightweight markup as convenient workarounds to denoting what they want to have in richtext until i…

Please see past discussion on numbering: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/3406/ http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/5921/ Zotero does have a LOCALLY unique number that it assigns & there have been mixed discussions about exposing thi…

That's not valid BibTeX; most entries do not start with the required "@Type{cite-key," line. You might try using RIS as your intermediate format instead.
-
Consult your RM documentation or the technical support that exists for it: it should be able to import RIS.

I am not a lawyer. It is not possible to relicense GPL code under the ECL unless you are the copyright owner (per license requirements in the GPL, itself; you may be able to migrate to a newer version of the GPL or to the Affero GPL, but that's…

bbolker's example works for me. Neither JabRef nor bibutils escapes ampersands. It may be a problem with either apacite or url--I haven't played much with it.

Import/export does not preserve item ids. Move your entirely zotero data directory (either by copying it between machines or by keeping it on an external or network drive that you can use anywhere).
-
If your LaTeX editor supports lyxpipes, look at: http://groups.google.com/group/zotero-dev/msg/24ff076ccf8e41b4 There has already been much discussion of whether to include a BibTeX key in the interface (as or with other local identifiers).

I use cite this page. Zotero senses the COinS embedded there, which identify it as an encyclopedia article. Title, author ("Wikipedia contributors"), encyclopedia title, publisher, date, URL, and access date are recorded automagically.
-
You can setup your copy of MediaWiki to make use of citation templates, a'la Wikipedia & use Zotero's Wikipedia citation template export.
