Please also take a look how categories are represented in Biblioscape GUI - a tree of checkboxes - it is a very convenient representation for managing tags or categories.I found a screenshot. It is interesting, but I don't know if this scales well …

I imported my bibtex collection into Zotero and realized that Zotero does into distinguish between Master's and PhD Thesis types of documents. There are a half dozen thesis types in addition to these two. What benefit would having multiple thesis ty…

The instructions it gives are right in this case: download the latest version of the OO.o plugin, which is 2.0a2: http://www.zotero.org/support/1.5_beta#openoffice

CB: Note that the risk argument was not the only one I raised. It is still valid for products that use "open APIs" or allow "open file formats" to be exported from them, though. What happens if you forget to or can't export before the ship has sun…

I don't see why they need to open up the code to the software though, same would go for Zotero. As this is your first post, I question the motivation a bit. However, I'll bite. Open source guarantees the program will be available, at least as-is, i…

It is likely an auto-generated tag that is causing the screwup. Another thread posted instructions on how to remove all generated tags using sqlite. Not ideal, but you'd still keep your custom tags. I suppose that you can also use sqlite to dump …

If you have a mouse wheel, you can scroll through the tags. You can also get a scrollbar by making the collections/tags pane wider.

You can add the images to zotero using "Link to file" or "Store copy of file." As far as storing citation metadata about them, similar notes apply as to the web-based images or to sections of a book. Document should definitely work, but a more spe…

If so, this poses a real problem for me since Zotero still does not offer a CSL that conforms to the American Anthropological Association Style Guide and the Chicago Style (upon which the AAA style is loosely based) also does not conform to AAA requ…

WebDAV syncing supplies two things: easy, automatic (and probably offsite) backup of your attachmentsa way to easily use those attachments from multiple copies of zotero (if you use it on a work/school and/or home desktop and/or laptop, for example)…

Regarding code: it should be relatively trivial to grep through existing styles & add characteristics to a database for easier lookup. I already have code that compares user-inputted HTML of how they want their citations to look to the HTML…

To delete a tag, you have to right click directly on it & deletion works when the tag is unselected. Furthermore, the interface says "delete tag" rather than "delete tags." While I'm not opposed to allowing multiple tags to be deleted, I disag…

Batch editing is planned. There are past discussions on that here.

You can right-click on a tag and rename it, which may achieve some of what you are after (it isn't automated for future additions, but it isn't that bad to clean up tags after adding a few dozens/hundred citations).

Refer to the first entry in the FAQ

Zotero 1.5 beta has a feature to synchronize your library from your desktop machine to Zotero's server. Since you are not using 1.5 & have not set up syncing, you have no entries in the server yet.
-
First, note that dropbox isn't a supported sync method. For actual questions about using dropbox, refer to their support channels. This page tells you how to find your zotero directory: http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data Everythi…

You can export to BibTeX or RIS & import that into Zotero as a work-around already. A richer import from their XML or ZIP files might be nice in the future if more furl users were interested in it (this has come up before).

I believe that the Zotero devs built the NYT translator for Zotero, so it might not be the best example. However, encouraging others to embed standard metadata into their webpages is definitely a good idea. Refer to: http://www.zotero.org/support/…
-
Note that the developers have stated several times that there are not currently any plans to support running the sync server on your own machine (but that they will eventually release the source). There are already people mirroring their Zotero dat…

It varies by style. The style listed in the other thread on this subject was APA. Here's an example, culled from Loyola: Fuqua, B. H. (1999). Young children's decisions about naughtiness and punishment in constructivist classrooms [Abstract]. Abst…

@Shahar: Can't you enter them as documents and tag them as an abstract for your use case? @erazlogo: While it is true that abstracts are often (though not always) used for material presented at conferences, I don't think that the types you describe…

In .bib files, entries usually aren't separated by commas.
-
Rather than using a custom translator, why not modify the webapp to use a standard means of embedding metadata?
-
There are already styles that abbreviate given names & you can write new styles that do this. I agree that better journal abbreviation would be nice, but Zotero has convinced me & others to quit using EndNote: you can insert a single journa…

If you just add the PDFs to zotero & they can be indexed, then you can right click & choose to retrieve metadata for the pdf. It will look on Google scholar for the information. It is planned to expand this to use other methods of retrievi…

The behavior Tjowens describes (shift to light grey from the default highlight color (which, for me, is an Ubuntu orange) happens for me under Ubuntu using 1.5b1. edit:guess i was beaten to it ;-)
