New Scientist isn't yet supported. http://www.zotero.org/translators is not entirely comprehensive, but it is a fairly good place to check. You can, of course, "create new item from current page" (as you can on any web page) to at least get a title…

If you don't actually use offline mode, you might look at the Always Online extension.

Zotero already allows you to store links or copies of arbitrary files. And you can certainly associate those files with Zotero items (so that you can, for example, add a zotero "document" that had your data attachments & was populated with cita…

Is it possible to set up one's own Zotero server? Not at this time & it has been said that the server code will likely be released, but that it will still be unsupported.

Also: are you using the English locale or something else?

I don't know if there is a reason, but there are other work arounds. My habit is to just hit enter after I edit a field. You shouldn't have to click somewhere else in the entry; anywhere other than on another item seems to work for me (changing th…

This (and the related ability to just auto-detect things like BibTeX in a page) has been requested before; search for more info, but it is definitely on the radar...

This is specific to the translator, but many translators use the exported RIS (or other standard export format). If the keywords aren't present in that standard format (as is the case on that article), it won't work. Perhaps a quick request to the…

1) It doesn't work offline when an internet connection is unavailable; It does not work when firefox is in offline/disconnected mode, but it does not require an internet connection. If you start firefox in online mode & lose your connection, it …

I can try disabling them later to see if one is the culprit. This was a quick thing to try. The lack of a refresh, reported here, occurred with all other extensions disabled. I will look at the issue in more depth later.

I've had plenty of interrupted syncs & don't have the duplicates that you have. I believe that attachment IDs should be unique to each attachment referred to in the database & should also be conserved on sync. Did you perform a title searc…

For whatever it is worth, I can replicate this bug in 1.5b2 on Fx 3.0.7 on Ubuntu (x86-64). However, this copy is not refreshing several things for me. Deleting a reference from the middle pane leaves it present in the middle pane; changing an ite…

I ran 'fdupes' on my somewhat smaller library (ca. 500 items, most of which have PDF attachments) that I use everyday. This database has existed in some form before the sync plugin & has been used on multiple platforms, both with rsync and wi…

So, noksagt, you're suggesting a global directory, and an app-specific local directory?Yes, but I think the most important part of my suggestion is to just make the path configurable, as it gives everyone the ability to get the setup they want. Thi…

You can create an item (either manually, by using a site translator, or by attempting to retrieve metadata from the PDF (in 1.5b2)) and then attach both the PDF and notes to that item.

http://www.zotero.org/support/known_issues#incompatible_extensions This list is not comprehensive. You can test on your own system by disabling other extensions.

[JavaScript Error: "Build has expired -- syncing disabled" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 638}]I assume this means upgrade to 1.5b2

My ideal app would have 4 & would furthermore be configurable either per-repository or even per-style (e.g. I would trust most changes coming from a publisher's site & would probably want auto-updates, but would probably be more cautious if …

I'm exporting as BibteX....Is this an endnote X2 problem? At the very least, there is an apparent problem with the export filter that you are using. That is not valid BibTeX, as it is missing the first line of each item (which denotes the item type …

I guess one work-around, if you are really committed to staying on Windows & not using a virtual machine would be to use LyX under cygwin: http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/LyXOnCygwin

Thanks. I hadn't caught up with the xbiblio emails over the last week or so. Yes--just adding the formatting to the string (to allow for 'prefix=, "'; 'font-style="italics"'; and others) solves this.
-
Here's the old thread: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2759 I don't think anything has changed. At least there was no lyxpipe in LyX on Windows as of December 2008. I see that cb2bib has a ChangeLog line saying "2008-07-20 Set LyXPipe in Wi…

Zotero is platform-independent; most desktop search programs are not. You could, of course, have Spotlight (or others) index your storage directory & use their native search interface.

Please give a minimal example of a failing file. The problem could be either in the Zotero export or in the Biblioscape import. You might also be able to use some different file format to do the data exchange.

Having a single database in one location is not syncing. Furthermore, you probably shouldn't have two copies of firefox open and trying to use the same sqlite database when it is kept on a network file server. To quote their FAQ:People who have a …

Note that this was described as a javascript exploit. It may be a false positive; it may be a real exploit that is benign when it is on the local machine. If it is a real exploit, it likely came from the web. While it is true that another virus c…

The two are unrelated. Assuming that this isn't a false positive, I suppose that you might have visited an infected page & taken a snapshot of it, saving the malicious code to your machine. If I were you, I'd save a copy of the file it claims …

No. A zotero database should not be accessed by multiple clients at the same time. If you want to synchronize data between your machines, try out the sync beta 1.5b2.

Zotero isn't a toolbar like google is. Do you see a zotero icon in your status bar? If not, refer to: http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/no_status_bar_icon
