Thanks, Hope, this is great. It works for me. But, doesn't Zotero or a plug-in provide similar functionality for searching pdfs etc? (I've posted elsewhere about wanting to use your idea to search Zotero tags)

Try Preferences - Search - then install the PDF indexing items. After that, I did get the Retrieve Metadata. Btw, it only retrieves data for a limited portion of my pdfs.
