Sorry. I meant to have said "article titles", not journal titles. If you see five comments above, you'll see what I mean.

The Hints file is abbreviating journal titles again. This time "technology" and "system" to "tech." and "sys.", respectively. It was fixed a while ago, but the problem is back.

Nice! Thanks.

Oh, I see. I take that there is no way to suppress Footnote 3 from showing up as short-form then. Maybe I should create a "ghost" item to use as a placeholder in a situation like this. Thanks.
-
Actually, this is the situation: 1. Citation 1 (entered with plugin) 2. Citation 2 (hand coded) 3. Citation 1 Citation 1 in Footnote 3 will show up as "id." because MLZ is not aware of the intervening, non-coded Citation 2. I'd like to suppress th…

Yes, I'm aware of that. But I want the word "Forum" in other instances to be abbreviated. E.g., "Legal Studies Forum" should still be abbreviated as "Legal Stud. F."
-
I'm a little surprised that the word "insurance" in the title of a journal article was abbreviated as "ins." by the filter after importing the Hints. Having read p.35 of the MLZ book, I think this change was an innocent bystander when the "Title" c…

Hints are not editable through the UI, so there is no list button for them. To make changes, you'll have to edit the JSON file directly, then re-import it (you can import a Hints file to any style). On import, the entire set of hints will be replace…

I don't see the "Hints" button in the classic window after downloading the hints file. Where does the file have to go after downloading? Can you import the Hints for another style too? It looks like the Hints are to be used with "mlz american law…

If the abbreviation is not correct, you can fix it up through the Abbreviation Filter UI, either from within the word processor, or (with the latest version of the Abbreviation Filter and MLZ) through the "CSL Editor" in MLZ. Is the "CSL Editor" in …

Thanks.

Is a fix coming up? One unfortunate consequence of this problem is that when you insert the wrong pinpoint number, you cannot hit backspace to edit it. After the numbers disappear, hitting the backspace erases the entire citation.

Where can I retrieve it? When I press the "Report Errors" button under Zotero Connector settings, it doesn't provide any ID.

Done.

Mmm. That's funny. I filed the report after having run down the trouble shooting steps. Maybe it's due to MLZ that I'm using. I vaguely remember that MLZ updates its translators on its own. I think I ran into a similar situation a while ago. Let m…

Try http://content.healthaffairs.org/content/early/2013/05/14/hlthaff.2012.1263. But you are right. None of them works, so you can try any link at healthaffairs.org.

@fbennett, I'll send you via email.

@fbennett, There is more than one. I'm pursuing publication in a couple of journals in an Asian jurisdiction, and each journal has its own citation format. I'll have to tailor a CSL-m for each journal.
-
Does that mean I have to use a text editor to hard-code the CSL file?

If the dialogs are closed and you do a refresh, then reopen the Classic View and the abbreviations display, do you find the abbreviations there? Yes. The plugin runs immediately after Zotero when you start up Firefox, and your abbreviations will be …

I'm on Firefox 19.0.2, latest MLZ, and the latest abbrev. plugin 1.0.131. I don't know if it's the latest MLZ or the latest abbreviation plugin, but now all abbreviations available in the list are substituted from the start, even for a new document,…

Nope, something is still amiss. MLZ has been upgraded to 4.0m347, but the symptom persists. To be more specific, I see the abbreviation pane initially with all the references in the document and the abbreviation boxes next to them. But as soon as I…
-
Yes, I've worked with the plugin before. This didn't happen before the MLZ major release, so maybe Prof. Bennett can chime in, although I understand he doesn't use MS Word. By the abbreviation pane being blank, I meant I don't even see the "referen…

Edit: please ignore this comment. inaccurate observation.

I'm a little overwhelmed right now but should be able to take part in the trial in a couple of weeks.

@fbennett: The approach sounds good. I'll stay tuned. Thanks!

Thank you both.

@Gracile, Thanks!
