No, that will end up with weird ordering, and non-numeric dates aren't consistently supported. (You can use "status:" in the 'extra' field to add an alternative like 'forthcoming', but that's not appropriate here.) Which style are you using? Is dis…

[My mistake. I misread the question. See the reply below.]

I don't see how this would (ever) be possible with Zotero, because it inserts citations just as text fields not sensitive to context that can then move around including across page boundaries. The only way to do this would be to somehow change it af…

It's probably different settings for field codes in MS Word on the other computer, rather than an effect of sending as an email attachment. See: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/word_field_codes

You can force a comma instead by using , as the suffix on the first then quoted in as the prefix on the second. (But I don't think there's a way to entirely omit punctuation. The reason is that spaces are ignored so you can't add a space before as a…

Correct.

(Someone else will be able to better answer your question than me. But the first question will be whether this is consistent in a new document, as you're checking. No, I don't think it would be different in different versions of Zotero because this …

1. Do you have automatic updating turned off (as would be indicated by dotted underlining beneath the citations)? This is certainly the fastest approach using Word for Mac for a long document like a thesis, so I think that's likely. In that case, th…

In which ways would "Computer Program" differ from "Video Game"? It might be easier if you just used that category, and then if needed customized the citation style to format all "Computer Program" citations like Video Games. (That would certainly b…

Oh, that makes sense. Yes, I would personally add the original names in brackets like [...]. (Not just as a middle name, but indicating as a translation. That usually works well in Zotero.) But I do that normally when I'm transliterating, so I admit…

Do any citation styles ask for this distinction? In effect, if they have exactly the same name, then they are the same person according to the bibliography. It would even be confusing to the reader to separate them. Of course adding a middle initia…

How are you adding these? With the Microsoft Word plugin, you should be able to just add multiple items when the add citation window pops up. Type one name, add it, then type another, etc., and then click enter to add all of them to your document.

1. You can disable automatic updating of the bibliography to make adding individual citations much faster. https://www.zotero.org/blog/zotero-5-0-36/#faster-citing-in-large-documents Then just refresh at the end (which might take a while). 2. Work …

(OSX has been getting stricter about many things. I wonder if this has something to do with word processor plugin interaction, which is the only time I can imagine this would be relevant.)

As you are using a custom style, I would recommend adjusting the author-short macro to instead use variable="title" form="short" for type="entry-dictionary"Ah, yes, that's a good point, if you want this consistently for specific item type(s). (Jus…

Simplest answer might be to check online (you're logged in now to be able to post here on the forum, assuming it's the same account) and see if your library is there. If so, you can do a fresh install of current Zotero and sync that way. (I'm not p…

(What I meant was that you couldn't easily opt on a per-item basis for using short title instead of author, if both author and short title were included as metadata for the item. Omitting the author allows some options.)
-
Zotero has limited options for customizing that, but you can use the abbreviation as the author (assuming you also want it to appear in the bibliography, which will help the reader to locate it), and then also include editors (but not authors or the…

(Can you share one library with yourself as a group, and then copy the items into your other collections that way? Or would that also break the citation links?)
-
When the insert citation bar pops up in Word, pick your reference (do not yet insert it), then click on it to see additional options.
-
Click on the 'single field' icon next to the -/+ buttons to the right of the author field when editing the item.

Minor Update (ZoterZero4) https://pastebin.com/tSbsHg6w I've added an additional option to force the capitalization of the first letter of a name when it might begin a sentence, such as in the case of "von">"Von" or "de">"De". (Inspired by: …

FYI, I've created a Word macro for personal use that will do this, but it is far from a perfect solution. In case it helps: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/73159/announcing-zoterzero-for-author-only-cites (You would need to customize it on a pe…

Note that Persee PDFs are protected by Recaptcha, although it usually doesn't require any user-interaction. I wonder if that might block it.

(There is also a rare but troubling case where if you do allow out-of-parentheses usage of names, the V should be capitalized iff it is the first word in a sentence. I have a special Word macro to deal with the out-of-parentheses case for names, but…

You can always add DOI (or other fields) via the Extra field like DOI: 10.xxx/.... However, such usage in Extra is not automated, so it won't copy between item types, etc., as you observed. But it will work consistently when creating bibliographies…

Adding a bibliography on a Mac can be very slow for very long documents. It should eventually work. You might need to run it overnight. (An alternative for very large documents is to use a PC when doing this final step. It's faster on Windows, becau…

We actually have an indeterminate progress bar from Zotero for document refresh on Linux and Windows, but we could not make it work in macOS without some actually pretty bad window focusing behaviours in there. This was a while back, so I don't reme…

Would a partial solution work out? I mean, if Zotero has some process going on, activate some kind of popup notification (up to you whether it disables Zotero or just displays as a banner at the top, etc.), then have a timer set for 1 second, and if…

Same problem as here, but on a Mac: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/73991/copy-bibliography-keyboard-shortcut-shift-cmd-c-copies-citation-mac-zotero-5-0-55-1 I assume if you restart Zotero it will start working normally, but it may happen from…
