Adam: yes, it looks as if that was it. I've changed to a simpler password, and that one is working ok. So, since I'm not using it any more, here's the KeePass-generated password that Zotero accepted and that let me into my account but which sync set…

I'm getting "The Zotero sync server did not accept your username and password" error too, on a new Windows 8.1 installation, when I try to get Zotero Standalone or the Firefox plugin to sync. I've reset my password (twice), and I'm entering the…

Wow, that was quick! :-)

How about if I want: Berlin, Isaiah (1958). Two Concepts of Liberty. In Warburton, Nigel (1999), Arguments for Freedom, London, Routledge. Note that this time Warburton is *not* the editor; he's the author, but has included readings within…

Thanks, Adam. I take it that it's up to the citation style to identify that the editor is the editor of the book, not the editor of the article?
-
Well, it *is* a problem -- if I just make Williams the author and Craig the editor then I get "Williams, Bernard and Craig, E (ed)" which is wrong. Presumably you mean put them both in the field(s) immediately following the title?
-
I can't see how, using Book Section, I could separate the author of the article from the editor of the encyclopedia. An example of the sort of think I need is: WILLIAMS, BERNARD (1998). Berlin, Isaiah . In E. Craig (Ed.), Routledge Encyclopedia…

Thanks -- I see what you mean; if the date part isn't there then nothing will appear. The "suffix="th " would be wrong if it's the 21st or 2nd, but I see that there's an "ordinal" attribute that will give the correct behaviour.

I call it "version", but I'm not the entire community :-) EUROCONTROL uses "edition", probably because it's closer to the French...

"ESARR 3 Guidance to ATM Safety Regulators. EUROCONTROL, Document EAM 3/GUI 1, Issue 1.0, 1st June 2001" I think the issue number field would have to include the whole text "Issue 1.0", because I might have to refer to a draft, such as "Draft 1…

Yes, but the report number is presumably a reference number, not an issue number. Anyway, I need both, and it can't be both. Look for example at the document "ESARR 3 Guidance to ATM Safety Regulators : Explanatory Material on ESARR 3 Requireme…

Yes, as far as I can see it lacks an issue number (or edition) field.

And another question on custom styles -- is it possible to insert a non-breaking space into a citation? It's mandated in some places in our corporate style (citations have to take the form "[Ref 1]", where the space between "Ref" and the reference n…

How does adding a new style to the database work? If I add a new style, are subsequent changes to the XML automatically reflected by Zotero, do I need to add the style again after subsequent changes to the XML? If the latter, do I have to remove the…

"MS doesn't tend to support RNG" Well, it's a new one to me. Although last time I did anything serious with XML, W3C XML Schema was strictly non-standard and poorly supported, so I'm hardly keeping up with developments. I've found Trang, so I…

I'm using Microsoft XML Notepad for preference, Exchanger XML Lite 3.2 as an alternative. I think Macromedia Dreamweaver MX2004 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 have XML awareness too, but I've not explored that.

"make sure to validate your style against the schema" But where can I get the schema? The link points to http://xbiblio.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xbiblio/csl/schema/branches/csl.rnc?view=markup, but what I find there doesn't look anything like a sc…

Great! And I see that tells me how to add editors (and I've checked, and they do appear as editors of the containing volume, not editors of the item, which is perfect). Thanks for your help -- I look forward to the version with crossref support!
