Hey wait -- I assume the beta connector speaks HTTP to Zotero? That means I could retire my Application/Document/Field implementation in CAYW and just use the HTTP endpoint to pop up the picker.
-
@adomasven it's reproducible, but I wasn't editing the document. The circumstances under which I can reproduce it are pretty uncommon though: if I position my cursor at the end of a paragraph, then drag right (thereby I think selecting the end-of-pa…

I'm getting Zotero experienced an error updating your document. Error: Failed to insert field. Could not find the placeholder link. {"noteType":0,"code":"{}","text":"{Updating}","id":"UsSQPN"} Debug ID: 1251657904

Just chiming in to say "nice". I think I may prefer this over the word processor plugins. Will this work for collaborative editing? Now that I may actually use Zotero with something else than bibtex, where should I ask about "Author (year)" support…

I don't trace who runs the scanner, so you'll have to find out who did and discourage them from doing so in the future yourself. The scanner does not distinguish between groups and personal libraries, it just runs over all references.
-
Except BibTeX. BibTeX supports italics and Zotero will create the html-ish markup on import.
-
If you don't have the scanner installed, then it obviously isn't the scanner that is generating these tags. I don't know how they got there, even if, as @adamsmith points out, the scanner is the most likely culprit to have generated them. The only …
-
The scanner doesn't run on a schedule. It goes through your whole library during scan so it's potentially very slow. If you want it to update it must be run again. On a new run, #broken tags for attachments that are not broken should be removed. If…

Happy to hear that. CAYW is affected, but it seems fixable. Who calls initDoc? Is that called by Zotero? Should I call it in createDocument?
-
Does this beta connector work with both the regular release of Zotero and the beta?
-
@adamsmith what kind of problems are you seeing? I can see that CAYW is broken but just in the sense that I don't get results. In my limited tests, Zotero seems otherwise unaffected. What problem did you experience?
-
My previous attempt with dual sync/async didn't work out well, plus it builds in extra complexity which is almost instantaneously legacy code... I can work on a branch for things that don't upend the whole architecture, but the latest released BBT a…
-
How far off is this from being non-beta btw? I currently do *not* have the time to target more than one version.
-
I'll look into it tomorrow... Hopefully it's just one of the monkey patches, not a race condition.
-
I have set up a second profile to deal with my new research. The previous library I had was not relevant to the new research at all, so I want them out of my way for now, and performance is better with less references. @cl417 another option that I …
-
Pin just means "keep the current key regardless of changes to the reference which would otherwise generate a new key". The page Adam links to explains how to set your own manually using "bibtex: yourkey"
-
I'll have to wait for a new appimage to drop (and for a non-numbered style to drop. I *hate* numbered citation styles). npm run app gave me an error and quit.
-
It's a strange editor though, or I must be overlooking something substantial. I've downloaded it and the only way I can do citations is by creating a footnote and using that in-text as a citation. That seems odd, and I can't find any way to do APA. …
-
I'd say it's more a narrow view of what a reference manager can do besides just putting references in folders. For that they do get in return a model where collaboration is likely smoother. Different priorities, but given that I'm a heavy biblatex u…
-
Sort of, but it's a little more sophisticated than that - it does update from a central repo of sorts, but I'm not sure on the update mechanism. The main problem I have with such editor + ref mgr systems is that they are geared towards their own e…
-
The idea behind it is (reasonably enough) that it makes it easier to collaborate. No need to set up Zotero groups in addition to sharing permissions on your document. The downside is that I found it a pain in Paperpile to make sure corrections I mad…
-
At least it will be open source, built on electron. It should be doable to write plugins to do what we want. I'm not a great fan of the bib-inside-doc idea. Paperpile does the same and I found it miserable to work with.
-
Except ManuscriptsApp has its own citation/bibliography management and the philosophy behind it (bibliography travels with the document) doesn't really mesh well with what we have in mind. Ah well.
-
It's early days, but there's a refreshing difference between the reaction by that CTO ("yes, definitely interested!! want to DM some more detail?") and the responses on the L&L forums. The L&L forums are of course not representative of all …
-
I'm in talks with the ManuscriptsApp devs, and they seem enthousiastic about making a Scrivener-for-Academia with Zotero integration (whether through BBT or otherwise). The guy I'm chatting with was the CTO of Papers.
-
@gagarine that probably means you can take out the manual install bit from point 1 in your readme.
-
I damn near missed CL because I had minor errors in my bibliography (OK, so it was a close shave anyway). I will never understand people who do this by hand. The BBT quality report is a direct result of that close shave. The manuscript authors howev…
-
Oh, the old "it's not a bug, it's a feature!" drivel. "People don't have that many references". Please. Ain't nobody got time for that. My master's thesis had a hundred I think. I told you L&L had no interest. Turns out there a vocal group of …

I have no idea, and no burning desire to find out. Running it without having zotero adds more complexity; it's possible to access the DB while zotero is not running (it wouldn't necessarily be fun given the normalization in the DB, but doable), but …
-
Ah, like so. Papers lets you pick while Papers is open, then lets you select an application to paste in to? The first part could be handled by Zutilo. The second part, I don't know. it would involve getting a list of active applications, let you sele…
