zotero-deb works on lubuntu, and doesn't seem to pull in gnome in the process. Zotero shows up under "Office" in the menu.

BBT 5.4.19 is out that addresses this problem. Apologies for the disruption.

If you want the downgrade as fast as possible you have to go into the addins overview and have it search for updates. The problem has been identified and a new version will be out today.
-
It can be done with a BBT postscript, but I wouldn't change the current behavior to output a newspaper type, correct.
-
The automatic downgrade is now in place.
-
A automatic downgrade to 5.4.14 will be up in ten minutes or so. You can get ahead of the game by grabbing 5.4.14 manually and installing that.

(I am solving it that is)

I'm glad to help. The USB option mentioned by @dstillman should be the simplest for your case.

OK, got it. But as this works, I must assume you do not want this. Does the confidentiality issue also include the item data (title, date of publishing, etc) in addition to the reports themselves? Because if not, you can just sync only the metadata …

I'm sorry, I don't fully understand what you are describing here. Export from Zotero into what format? Import on what server? You should not have your zotero sqlite database on a networked disk. Zotero expects file-based locking to work, and on net…

https://www.zotero.org/support/sync, under "WebDAV". OwnCloud has WebDAV BTW.
-
If you started zotero on machine A and would want to move to machine B, you would have to make sure that after closing Zotero on machine A, machine A is fully done syncing, and then that machine B is fully done syncing, before starting Zotero on mac…

Superb, one more hack I can be rid of.
-
Super, glad I could help.

Maybe you've just forgotten to set up https://retorque.re/zotero-better-bibtex/installation/preferences/hidden-preferences/#citeprocnotecitekey ?
-
That's developer, singular, for BBT -- the CSL style was a quick hack job that suffers from my near-complete lack of knowledge of CSL styles. What the style is supposed to do is display the note field of the item instead of the usual author, year, e…

That's a problem in the docs, I'll fix that; "Better BibTeX Zotero select link Quick Copy" is the one you want, but you still need to go into the BBT settings to change which quick-export format you want through Preferences -> Better BibTeX ->…

I mean no slight, but that would indicate to me you haven't actually used TeX much. Citekeys are a meaningful part of the document, not just lookup keys (even though they're of course also lookup keys). Everyone I know who uses LaTeX uses it to writ…

I'm didn't mean the filter wouldn't be used -- I made no change to the filter BTW -- but I don't know anyone except now you who'd want to use the dateadded function in the citekey, never mind the citekey being just the dateadded. I'm not contesting…

I appreciate the compliment, but in additions to @dstillman 's points there's also that I have no personal desire to see BBT integrated. BBT is a labor of love, and I like the freedom I have. Plus there's the benefit of not having to show up for Zoo…

SharePoint does speak webdav, so personal attachments could maybe be stored there. No idea how far out of spec its implementation is though.

Format-date can already format times, but dateAdded is not a regular zotero item field. I made a special case for getting that off the item, and that was it; it was a less-than-one-line fix. TBH I don't think this'll be used much, but philosophical…
-
No worries.
-
You'd need to use DateAdded, but also the :format-date filter currently discards time information. I can make the change that makes this possible, but you'll need to open an issue on github for it. My support/dev infra builds on GH issue workflows.…

If you use down-to-the-minute (which you can't yet, I'd have to add a function for it), you can sort of get the both of best worlds by using delayed auto-pinning; the key will automatically be pinned a configurable number of seconds after creation, …
-
You are right: what I made doesn't generate citekeys; it just takes what is in the Extra field. Technically that would still be a generated key from BBTs POV. About adding Citation Key: [some timestamp] to Extra, may I ask why? Is there any diffe…
-
@adamsmith, just as a point of interest, do you know if dateAdded is in UTC, or in local time, when I request it from an item (perhaps separately from how it sits in the DB)?
-
I can get you a down-to-the-second dateadded function, but not a down-to-the-minute-but-down-to-the-second-on-conflict function. If you're OK with always down-to-the-second, I have no issue with that. What I did was to make the pattern `[Extra:selec…

Alright, if that wording is better than what it was, I've added it to the site, that will be live in 5 minutes or so. WRT your response, the short answer is "currently, you can't", and the slightly longer answer is "I can get you partway there".
