I could try to re-describe those passages, but I think I'd just end up reproducing the text -- do you have more specific questions than "what does this mean"? I know the docs ain't great, but I have a blind spot here -- the docs make sense from my p…

That could have some effect, but the popup window should still appear. I think. The plugin gives zotero the list of PDFs and asks it to do the necessary for metadata retrieval of those -- I don't really know what happens after I ask that. The popup …

The warning Safari gives here is correct, plugins can do such things, but it's not saying "this plugin *will* do such a thing. Safari (or other browsers) doesn't have a feature where a plugin can say "can you allow me to inspect the contents of the …

While doing the folder import, Zotero did not check for metadata. For no pdf. It might seem like nitpicking but I'm trying to make sure I understand what's happening on your system; during the import, no metadata retrieval happens. After the last …

Broadly, functions grab text from your item, filters transform that text. But while I applaud trying to understand the tools you use, pretty much what @adamsmith says: if you tell us what you want the citekey to look like, we can take a stab at tell…

One did work? Did the ones that failed just not show up for metadata retrieval, or did it show up but got a red cross? If it showed up but got a red cross there's nothing I can do, that part is all Zotero. If you drag the PDF on Zotero and you get …

You can send it to emiliano.heyns@iris-advies.com. You should have seen something like this: https://imgur.com/a/Gde2wLX, did you not see that? Did you import or link the files? When you choose link, metadata is not retrieved.
-
As far as I know, nothing has changed.
-
Actual PDF please.
-
Do you have a pdf for me where it should have worked?
-
It asks Zotero to do the lookup; if no metadata appears, that should mean that Zotero can't find any.
-
And the possibility of changing styles without doing the whole thing again. And updates when you fix item data in Zotero.
-
I can't opine on that, sorry, I don't know that much about rtf scan.

Fails in what way?

Ah, I see. But I can also see that the UK and Australia, for example, will also need an "autumn" entry in the case 'season' selector, because we speak correct English ;-)this is something I'd like to discuss on github. I have my support infra there,…

Sorry I forgot to mention that it works well if I directly export the bib file. However, when I use the autocompletion function of RMarkdown it can never be identified as @incollection that seems to me something the RMarkdown crew will want to addre…

@Raylc1996 apologies I did not consider your case -- bookSections that also have a book author are exported as @inbook by Better BibTeX (note Better BibLaTeX) with the idea that a book section in a book that has a book author is more likely to be a …

From my pov mendeley needs a kick in the nether regions sooner than a farewell, but welcome to Zotero.

The .bib file contains error messages such as that shown above ("missing required field year"). It seems that the season entry confused the parser and dropped the year on output, which is undesirable output (i.e., lost data). Ah, those; that is BB…

5.4.13 is out.
-
That is, 10 minutes after this is fixed.
-
5.4.12 should be out in 10 minutes and exports season dates for bibtex.
-
Just reporting that I also get Better BibTeX export errors for any date with a season in itin what sense are you getting errors? Undesirable output, error message popups of some kind, something else?
-
1975-24 is not citeproc though, it is ISO 8601, and for biblatex, date = {1975-24} is correct (see https://tex.stackexchange.com/a/396619) and this is the only way you get properly translated seasons.
-
Please report this at https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-better-bibtex/issues and we'll see if we can get a bibtex solution for you. At the very least it should have picked up the year.

"Export Files" also makes BBT exports substantially slower; on the one hand, there's just the copying of files that takes time, but also that exporting files disables the BBT cache for that export, and cached exports are noticeably faster.
-
Note that it currently does not remove bib files when the corresponding collection is removed in Zotero.
-
The "Export Files" options means the attachments get exported along with the bib files. For writing articles you generally don't want that.
-
You need to have the BBT plugin installed, create an auto-export, then go into the preferences => BBT => Automatic export and then check the checkbox for "Export all child collections". But you can also set up as many separate auto-exports as …
