Thanks TomassoTomassini, Your comment "I'm not a programmer, but AFAIK you expect Extra field will do some magic. In your initial post, you gave some examples, like e.g: 'type: periodical' when using Manuscript type. IMHO this cannot work" illustr…

It worked for a hot minute, but then it broke. @aschock - I suggest heading to the Scrivener forum as there's a lot of info over there. However, in the end I gave up. The issue is the Scrivener devs, not the Zotero team. They seem to think that th…

Thanks @damnation, I looked at those before posting. "I don't quite understand why you would want to customize citations for a dissertation. Chicago styles are used by 100s of publishers and probably 100000s of researchers -- why reinvent the whee…

Is this still working for you? I got the citation recognition working (but still needed to reformat everything other than normal text and headings). However, it now won't work. Now, the new DocDown file just inserts the citation as plain text, i.e.…

It stopped processing, nothing was happening in the output. I don't have access to a Windows computer, do you have an ETA on the fix (praying this is before I submit)?

Thanks, for the clarity on the flashing. Unfortunately, my issues are bigger than this, it's just a symptom I think. It seems that Zotero is struggling to handle large documents. Yesterday, I needed to combine my chapters to submit my draft thesis …

I'm pretty confident the issue is related to tracked changes... which is a real bummer as I need them on (so my supervisor can see the revisions). Edit: I was wrong... the flashing is back in both docs, but have left below unchanged so you can see e…

This ended up resolving for me and I missed this response. Just found this when reviewing my past threads as a new issue has come up.

Archive was more the name of the repository that the historical document is kept in. The issue I'm encountering is that I can't get the extra field to return what I need. It's not optimal to have to manage so much in the extra fields, but if that'…

All good, If this comes up again I'll see if I can make sense of the CSL code in the first instance and then post here if I can't figure it out. Regarding the example in my original post, would you know how I could set up the item to achieve the d…

Thanks, I was hoping to avoid having to do that. I'd rather have the information so I can adjust as I go. I'm using Chicago 17th Edition. Is there any documentation on this?
-
This did not work. All citations were rendered as plain text and not recognised by Zotero (I had it set to live citations). It also did not convert a single element of the formatting correctly. It needs better documentation, particularly the need…

Did you find a way to achieve this?

@adamsmith Thank you for the response, I was searching the forum for this update ☺️ I am currently going through the forum and Google to try and find the best plugins to help manage hierarchical item relationships. Are there any plugins compatib…

I've had this issue for some time now. When I click on the attachment paperclip it does nothing (but I can still sort by Creator, title etc.).
-
Thank you, this was really helpful. I managed to do it, although I did hit a couple of stumbling blocks: 1. As I don't use command lines all that much, I initially interpreted the statement "You can open a specific profile from the command line wit…

I'm helping to set up the Zotero account etc., plus I can't use linked attachments with a group library. I'm a bit nervous using the terminal, as it is not something I generally do/am comfortable with. I saw the below comment on the page you linke…

by acting baffled Act? No, it was genuine user feedback. (One might argue that ignoring our explanation and calling this a "a frustrating limitation that doesn't really make any sense" is a bit "rude".) Explaining what would work for me as user is …

My comments have been completely taken out of context, and the defensiveness is a little irksome. I have not said that Zotero is not a good product, nor have I implied so. I merely stated that I found a limitation as a user. Many students already h…

@dstillman I was editing as you posted, I misread the comment. The Zotero membership is an upfront payment, the $20 plan is not large enough for those doing larger research projects - it will max out pretty quickly. So, the only option through Zot…

I agree with @FWA that this would be incredibly valuable. Wouldn't a message to users counter the potential for errors/confusion? I really hope i've misunderstood something here. What do people in groups do in this case? If we can't have attachment…
-
Edited: Initially, I was really excited about the idea of groups, it seemed like such an amazing option... then I discovered that they don't have the same functionality as a personal library - most notably the ability to use linked attachments (dro…

Review Articles are just another type of journal article, like editorials or research articles. They are cited the same. That isn’t going to change. Except if they have the same title, they duplicate in Zotero... it is an issue.
-
@gpatten I have come around to the position (argued by @adamsmith in a previous discussion on this topic) that a book review item type would be a suboptimal solution to the problem, since it would preclude me from noting the form in which the revie…

Will there be a book review item type added to avoid incorrect duplicates?
-
@adamsmith Out of context, yes it does. However, the element you quoted is not the only way that the proposed feature would work. Like others, I would like the ability to sort by this feature. I have used tags, but they didn't work for me. I fou…

I also support this request. As stated by others, tags could be used, but it made things a bit messy for me - I stopped using tags a long time ago. I would really like to be able to sort my list based on 'read' and have this visible in the list. …

[Moved from another thread — D.S.] @ @dstillman You wouldn't see the notes list except when you're trying to open a note, in which case this lets you choose between item notes and all notes depending on which you want to open — it wouldn't make se…
