Ok. Thanks for the good work!

Thanks! Looks like Informaworld is quite troublesome. Is this because they are regurlarly changing the layout?

Same error as Jon Rubin here, while trying to import http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~db=all~content=a780731933 Error: TypeError: newDoc.evaluate("//div[@id=\"content\"]/div/a[1]", newDoc, null, XPathResult.ANY_TYPE, null).iterateNext() is …

Mmm... for me this third-party solution is not really a solution. And unfortunately, my University forces me into the desert of WinXp :( Thanks anyway.
-
Thanks for your quick reply! I am sorry, but I am not sure whether I understand what you mean. Do you mean I should use a third-party tool like http://www.textfixer.com/tools/remove-line-breaks.php to remove the linebreaks? I use the copy-paste f…

@daoane: the articles you provided do not work: Error: item has no title Source: file:///D:/MyData/Dataset%201/Zotero/translators/Informaworld.js Line: 0

@ajlyon: your patch worked for me, thank you very much! @jonnogreen: did you save http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/Informaworld.js to the Translators directory of your Zotero data directory? Did you then close all Firefox instances a…

Mmm.... I just tried to import another article from Informaworld, but another Javascript error ruined my day :( The URL: http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a758502438&db=all The error: Error: TypeError: newDoc.evaluate("//div[@id=…

Thanks for your comments. I do stick - however - to my point that including a timestamp would improve this 'basic search' as well, just like the dedicated forum search. Just for my curiosity: Why do you have this Google site search if there is a…

Works! Thank you very much for your quick reply!

OK, well, your initial argument was that Zotero shouldn't auto-save because "most Windows applications" don't.. This is because there are multiple 'good practices', one being 'try to copy the look-and-feel of abundantly used programs, the others bei…
-
@Dan: there's plenty of precedent for auto-saving in note-taking apps. Ok. I am not interested in other note-taking apps, because I am using Zotero, not the other ones :-). But I will not stubbornly stick to 'Save' buttons: a clearly visible remark…
-
@noksagt: Based on: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/application-mistakes.html let's carefully examine what happens when I add a note 1) I press the Add button 2) A popup appears with a small wysiwyg editor. For me this is popup is unexpected, bec…

@bdarcus, noksagt: most computer users out there DO use Windows/Word, so if Zotero (and all other Linux programs) want to be accepted by this audience, they better copy its HCI / UI. P.S. I am not in favor at all of Microsoft and its products, bu…
-
@bdarcus: why is the current behavior preferable? I think it is good HCI practice to copy the behavior of commonly used programs. In program's like MS-Word, your document is lost when you press the 'X' button, so I expect Zotero to do the same.

Forgot to mention: I really like Zotero, thanks a lot! :-)
