Some journals are divided into parts. These parts have their own pagination. As a result, to cite these journals, you must indicate the part. A section field would solve this problem. Apart from the separate pagination that sounds just like "issue" …

In cases such as this, the quickest way of adding the PDF is to drag the link to the PDF from the webpage onto the Zotero item once it has been created.

is there a automated duplicate remover? No, not currently. or can this useful concept/feature be developed? Yes, it's planned. This is probably one of the most frequently requested features here - do a search for "duplicate detection" if you want t…

In my work computer I read an article (web-page version) and used Zotero's highlights+sticky notes tool to annotate it. When I revisited the article in my work computer, the snapshot had all my annotations - great! I went home and synced my account,…

I haven't actually got the "script unresponsive" message since this morning, but in case it's helpful: Is this on particularly slow computers, or recent ones? Not fast, but not overly slow either - 2GHz core 2 duo, 2GB RAM, running Vista SP2. Althou…

Hmm... I've been getting the same thing - again since upgrading to rc5. They are the standard firefox "script unresponsive" errors, and they do refer to Zotero. I'll grab an exact error message and post it here if it happens again. For me it happen…

Unless you have a specific reason to keep it somewhere else, as an attachment to the Zotero item (I presume by "downloading a paper" you mean you used the address bar icon to create a Zotero item for that paper). See http://www.zotero.org/support/at…

I tried to import a PDF, which it failed to do, seemingly hanging in the "import and conversion" phase, with a progress bar showing. I restarted Firefox and was, from then on, unable to import anything, with everything I tried giving me the message …

I had this problem a while back. I think I worked out in the end that it was caused by some sort of incompatibility with another extension, but I can't remember which one ATM - if you could list the other firefox extensions you have installed that m…

This doesn't appear to be a general issue, at least with Zotero 2.0rc - records where an abstract is available within Pubmed work fine for me (note that not all pubmed records have abstracts, and clearly if pubmed doesn't have the abstract Zotero ca…

I suppose that this way one can also delete tags in an existing Zotero library if it is first imported to Endnote. Note that this will break updating citations in current documents, as well as almost certainly resulting in some data loss, so I could…

Jay - if you have access to a networked location which you can access through the filesystem (or are willing to use a USB stick for transfer) the "session manager" add on with the same custom storage location on both computers (normally it puts save…

Have you tried surrounding your friend's account name with quotes? It's a long shot but it might work. I know that the dev team at least has the ability to delete accounts (to allow them to get rid of spammers), and Dan or another dev should hopefu…

Could users build support for the sites they use most if Zotero does not support it? Yes, certainly, if said users can program or are willing to learn some basic programming. See http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/creating_translators_for_sites Us…

First thing to check: Is "automatically tag items with keyword and subject headings" checked in the general pane of the Zotero preferences?

I am trying to get around using a group library for this project, because I used that function once before and it didn't support attaching files to citations Group libraries now support file syncing using Zotero storage.
-
I'd prefer to have the option of only syncing the citations. This is possible, simply uncheck "sync attachment files in my library using..." in the sync tab of the Zotero preferences. Also, if you wanted to sync only a few PDFs to stay under the 1…

Works for me. I'd like to say thank you for tackling this so quickly. Sciencedirect is such a big database that this excellent level of support really does make a difference to us scientists.

I haven't heard of this bug and certainly don't experience it myself. Which version of Firefox are you using? How long has this been happening? Does it happen with all PDFs or just this one? Also, have you checked the list of incompatible extensions?
-
I can confirm this, automatic grabbing of PDFs doesn't appear to work either now.

I haven't personally noticed superfluous punctuation like this with any of the databases/publishers I use (I work in the biological sciences). Would it be possible for you to provide some sample URLs?

Assuming you are going to use Zotero 2.0 beta , then yes, Zotero can do everything that you have mentioned (obligatory beta software warning: backup, backup, backup; but then you should so that for all software, and I have personally found 2.0 beta …

This has been requested numerous times, with that justification I add my +1 to this feature request, barring any significant technical problems with implementation.

Presumably a 2-3 year plan has to see a lot of the functionality & storage moving into the cloud. Just a quick note to say that a completely cloud-based system would be a deal-breaker for me. I have no problem at all with Zotero's functionality …

I cab confirm this behaviour on windows vista SP2, firefox 3.5.7, zotero 2.0b7.6, so it is probably a platform-independent issue.

Just found this from Dan last March. To quote: "Going forward we'll be making refinements to the PDF recognition feature that should allow you to recognize more PDFs at once." I don't know what the dev team has up their sleeve, but it looks like th…

A pop-up for more than 20 would probably work for many cases, it would be surprising if there were any circumstances where a block would be triggered for less than 20 items. Several individual retrieves each of less than 20 could still trigger a bl…

Could there be some check or warning when someone tries to download metadata for more than the trigger number of pdf files? In principle, a great idea, in practice I don't think anyone has actually figured out what exactly the trigger is. Various …

I guess how much space you have depends on any other add-ins you have, but I agree that people will generally have more space in word 2007. One question for someone involved with plugin development: is it possible to specify different icons for the…

This has come up for ages. The bibliography should be tagged with a "bibliography" style. +1 Word 2007 has a bibliography style built in, it is dependent on the Normal style ("based on Normal" in Word speak) with no modifications, so giving the Zo…
