I like “Imported from: “

The APA manual suggests that URL shorteners or shortDOIs are okay. This is a terrible idea, and APA has been strongly criticized for it by folks who work in archiving the scholarly literature. The shortDOI service, while still around, does not hav…

The 10/ is optional in the URL, but storing the shortDOI with it makes it clearer this is a shortDOI and not just some random string of characters. You should not use shortDOIs in published papers—always use the full DOI there. Only use shortDOIs …

APA is a pretty straightforward style to edit for this. Follow the steps adamsmith links above and let me know if you need some more guidance.

I think a separate field for data source/translator (not mapped to a CSL variable) would be good. MLA’s requirement is a bit frustrating and confusing—why would a reader care which standard access database was used. I think Library Catalog mapped …
-
APA quite explicitly does not want things like EBSCO or JSTOR—standard academic databases—cited, only more specialized databases with exclusive access to the item (e.g., so an institutional repository, a museum digital archive, ProQuest Theses, etc.…

Add “de” to the language field of these items in your library.
-
You would need to edit the citation style file. What style are you using?
-
Thanks for the report. Can you give a link to their new guidelines?
-
Sounds good. I’ll write a test for Frank.
-
Does MLA want no protocol, but otherwise full URL, or no-protocol, host-only?
-
@adamsmith I didn’t realize that URL truncation was even possible in CSL. I’m not sure that’s spec. Is that something that we should consider adding? I personally think it’s not a good idea, but know that some styles like MLA(?) call for it.

There is no “disinformation” here. What I offered was my prediction—I wouldn’t be surprised if new shortDOIs were discontinued given comments by members of the DOI Foundation, such as here https://github.com/zotero/zotero/pull/1758 and here https://…

@Asa_chahong That isn’t really possible. How exactly are you selecting the author-date style? What buttons are you clicking?
-
What version of Word are you running?
-
That contradicts previous guidance from ACS, which (1) accepts manuscripts with any reference format and (2) very explicitly strongly prefers DOIs be included (they are the most important piece of information for typesetting and linking references f…

@adamsmith CSL 1.1 won’t have separate bibliography formats by locale. That might come in CSL 1.2.
-
No, that doesn’t sound right. Can you export an item that doesn’t work correctly to CSL-JSON, post to Dropbox or similar, and link here? Along with what it looks like for you?
-
What URL for the website?
-
In my experience, saving annotations external to the actual PDF file is a big pain—it makes it difficult to send the annotated PDF for example. If you are wants to extract annotations for searching in Zotero, check out the Zotfile plugin.
-
For testing purposes, can you try the APA annotated bibliography style? If it appears there, Can you post to style to a site like hastebin.com or gist.GitHub.com and give a link here?
-
Yes! Some more details: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/transferring_a_library
-
Do what? What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
-
Copy your Zotero data directory (https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data) to the new computer. It has the same structure regardless of OS.
-
The DOI Foundation has indicated that they no longer really support shortDOI. Existing shortDOIs will continue to work, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the service to make new shortDOIs went away. That said, at some point I will get around to updat…
-
A DOI field will be added to all types in a future version. For now, you can enter these in Extra like this: DOI: 10.1234/56789 That will get picked up for citations.
-
Do you already have these files in a program like Calibre? What’s your current organization scheme with them?
-
And if you are seeing the full bibliography reference in text, double check that you haven’t selected the “curriculum vitae” version of the APA 7th edition style.
-
I’m not exactly sure what you mean. Can you give an example?
