I would use Conference Paper for this. It’s intended for conference/congress papers published in proceedings—very similar to what you are thinking about.

The CSL type for a full periodical is “periodical”. You can tell Zotero to cite an item as a “periodical” by entering this in Extra: type: periodical Note that most CSL styles have not been updated yet to specifically handle “periodical” types
