Just another Scrivener user hoping for better disambiguation, hopefully with some kind of unique identifier for Zotero items.

Zotero in a tab--bump!

@Bionatsci: Thanks for that suggestion. I didn't like that particular bookmarklet but it gave me an idea that has helped. Here it is, for anyone looking for a similar solution: 1) Create a "Zotero Inbox" folder in a convenient spot in Documents. 2)…

Currently I hit Print, then PDF, then Save as PDF, then select my desktop & hit Save, drag the resulting file to Zotero, then delete the original from the desktop. During the "Save as PDF" stage I glance wistfully at all the shortcuts below, suc…

OK, thanks. I know I can re-add the entry and get the PDF that way, but sometimes the original entry has extra information that has to be transferred to the new one. No way to merge them, is there?

Create a save searched - then do select all and rename in the virtual folder/saved search. Thanks, that worked--but only when I did NOT check the "parent and child" feature in the search window. When I had that checked, the resulting group wouldn't …

Here's one of the links: http://0-www.jstor.org.skyline.cudenver.edu/stable/2694276. I realize that Jstor requires that extra routing step you mentioned, BUT Zotero is able to download the pdf with no problem if I re-add the entire entry (by click…

do an advanced search for Title="JSTOR Full Text PDF" (for example), select all, and choose "Rename File from Parent Metadata" When I do this exact advanced search, and select all, I don't see any option to "rename file". There is no option or tool…

When right-clicking a link to a PDF file, selecting "Save Link As Zotero Snapshot" will download the PDF to your Zotero library. When I do this, a link to the page is saved rather than the pdf.

Simon, thanks, that worked. Earlier I tried removing the http's from both the host and the scheme but Zotero complained about that. Removing it from just the hostname worked. This is so simple, but I don't see it anywhere in the documentation.

Oh, without the %p? Thanks. I changed that but it still doesn't work.

I haven't used Zotero for a few months because of the proxy issue with my library, but I just checked in and saw the fixes that have been added. Hallelujuh! Thanks.
-
Yikes. All my database access will be via that library. Hope you can do it! Thanks.

Dan--I don't know anything about proxy systems. A search of my library web site gave these hits on "proxy", if it's of any use: http://library.auraria.edu/sitesearch.html?cx=011506818895964822933%3Ab04zvmrexha&cof=FORID%3A11&q=proxy&…

Hi Dan, Here's an article page where no icon shows: http://0-www.jstor.org.skyline.cudenver.edu/cgi-bin/jstor/listjournal/00846570/di980514/98p0131a/0?searchUrl=http%3a//www.jstor.org/search/AdvancedResults%3fhp%3d25%26si%3d1%26q0%3dalland…

I'm getting no icon on JSTOR either. I do get an icon at the New York Times.

" 'The relevant URL should be included by default.' ... Yes, but only if that is the version consulted. I'm mainly talking about two use cases: " I agree that there should be the flexibility to include the URL or not; I was reacting mainly …

I keep getting "no translator could be found for the given file". I am trying to import an RIS file. It is exported from Bookends in RIS format, plain text. The file is ".txt". There are only 19 items in the file, so size shouldn't be a problem. …

A suggestion for the developers: Most people who take care to make backups do so of directories/folders where they intentionally store things, such as a "Documents" folder. An application that stores crucial data in an "invisible" place, as Zotero d…

Chicago style says that for "publications available in both print and electronic forms ... the potential for differences, intentional or otherwise, requires that authors cite the form consulted" (CMS 15th ed.: 17.8). This means that the relevant URL…
