@ James: I still do think it is just there where this NEW error appears (until the last upgrade it always had worked). I removed two lines from my csl, and now all works fine (and day and month in the output get lost...):

I solved this problem for my purposes, with a CSL style I export html code, doing the following: CSL examples (between & and # no space) and and In the output, by a text editor I replace all || with ". It works.
