I think this might also significantly reduce memory usage of zotero. Since one could switch between tab groups, loading the respective pdfs and closing all other, there would no longer be a need to keep open all pdfs for different projects at once…

This is indeed something that is sorely missing from zotero. It would make it so much easier to work on multiple projects (or term paper + weekly seminar readings). Perhaps this could be integrated into the already existing drop down tab switcher?…
