I investigated the issue and another Linux user just confirmed [1] that drag&drop does not work on Linux. Can this bug please be fixed? [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/zotero/
-
What a pity. Whilst your suggestion is working great for Standalone on Windows, it does not work on Linux. When I drag the URL it is not placed in the collection, nor in the library. Any ideas why?
-
You are right. It indeed just jumps back to the library but still adds the pdf to the right collection. Good to hear that the bug will be resolved in the next release though. Thanks for your help!

Chrome ships an internal PDF viewer: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1060734?hl=en As for the drag and drop of URLs, do you mean the small white paper icon in the URL bar? http://i.imgur.com/awcYzj2.png Well, I can drag that…

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean. Let's assume I want to add this [1] PDF to my collection. Here on my system the PDF opens automatically in a Chrome tab but does not display an URL bar icon. Yet in Firefox I have a right-mouse co…

What makes it so difficult to implement the functionality in the connector of saving a PDF when viewed in Chrome directly?
-
Any updates on this? I am opening PDF documents quite frequently and would appreciate it to add the directly to my collection instead of manually creating an entry and then attaching a local copy of the document.
-
Great, that brings up the icons! :) Regards
-
Great! I would be even more happy to seeing this on the website rather than the client as it would allow the access to the log from everywhere.
-
So please consider a simple log file as my feature request. Thanks!
-
Yes I am sure they are gone. Fortunately I was able to restore the collection including all the items from another Zotero instance. Just out of curiosity, if there is not 'recent changes history', where can I find the entire log file?
-
Sorry, yes I am talking of items. The idea with Date Modified is good. However, in my special case not sufficient. I came up with the idea for a history of changes (similar to what Dropbox or Google Drive have, i.e. "You have changed the item f…

> Why can't you point Zotero for Firefox toward the portable version's data > directory? That's something I have not thought of yet. But course that should be the solution! Thanks

> I'm not entirely sure. Simon can probably give you the details once ? he reads this. I think that in order to detect that Standalone is running, the Firefox add-on must share the same data director with Standalone. So my next question would be …

No, I am starting it with zotero.exe -profile "%PAL:DataDir%\profile". The task manager shows me two processes, one called "ZoteroStandalonePortable.exe" and one called "zotero.exe". Does the connector look for a specific process name or h…

I just expierenced one problem. Zotero for Firefox cannot communicate with Zotero Standalone Portable. It does not recognise the Portable version running and does not switch to connector mode. Any ideas why?
-
By the way, does someone want to add the plugin to http://www.zotero.org/support/plugins?

@Alex and all who it may concern: Together with the developers of FireTray we createad a working FireTray release that is capable to minimise Zotero Standalone to the system tray on Linux! More information on Github: https://github.com/fou…

Hi Alex, Instead of modifying MTT revived we could try FireTray [1]. It seems to be more actively developed and maintained. But thanks anyway for your try. I will test it later. Robert [1] https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/…

Thanks Adam. Good to hear that an implementation is planned. Robert

Hi Alex, I did not have the time to further work on the compatibility. However, I would also love to see a working solution for Zotero Standalone tray support. I restored the Dropbox link above as it was no longer working. Thus, feel fre…

Thanks for your feedback Henri. I tried it myself and restoring an item from trash works flawlessly here. I assume your problem is not directly related to Zotero Standalone Portable. Regards Robert

For all of you who are looking for a portable .paf installer are more than welcome to test the Development Release: http://portableapps.com/node/36565

I found out about Zotero's -proile option that can even use relative paths. Example: zotero.exe -profile "..\..\Data\profile"
-
Remember to create a folder called 'zotero' in the root of your Dropbox.
-
Thanks for the quick reply. Good to hear that it is at least on the todo list. I am looking forward to seeing this implemented.
-
Sure. The Debug ID is D229867403. Thank you for your help!

I am using the latest Portable Firefox with the official Zotero Add-on.
-
Thanks for the information. So I will have to move them manually into the right collection. Regards

>1) I have a clunky but usable workaround for this problem: when I start a new >collection I insert a note with a special identifier ("=folder", in my case) and >the name of the collection; you can also add tags for it. Then I can search…
