That should be possible with an improvement in the renaming format, which should make it for the next version. The hidden option `removePeriods` might already do what you want but I am not sure about that. Contributors for 2.4? I would like to imp…

Maybe this issue? https://github.com/jlegewie/zotfile/issues/52 I commented on it in one of my last posts...

okay, I didn't get that. For me it looked like empty circles indicate that the file can not be found, which can actually be useful. I guess it works like this for people who do not sync their library. ps: And I agree that is makes sense for attachm…

Another options would be to use the empty color "box" for tags and change the logic for the attachment circle. The reason why I suggest this is that I think the colored tags are the more important feature and should get priority in terms of optimal …

I think the number keys should just assign the tag to the selected item. If a parent item is selected, it gets the tag and the color appears. If a child item is selected, *only* this child item gets the tag and the color appears for the child item *…

I looked at the colored tag implementation in the 3.1 branch today. It looks great!! There is one thing I would suggest though: An option to show tag colors for parent and child items similar to the options for saved searches. Currently, child item…

Sorry, I can't reproduce this. Does anyone else has the problem? Try to pin it down possibly also by trying on a different computer.

There is an option on the tablet setting tab to disable renaming when sending and getting files to/from the tablet. That should work but if it doesn't, the problem is the user input part, which I haven't tested for a long time.

The fix (with some other small changes) is under review at mozilla as version 2.3.1. I hope it gets approved quickly. You can already install it from here. Sorry for the problems. kguimond, let me know about your set-up.

Can you give me some more info? Your exact settings for dest folder, subfolder? System? etc
-
kguimond and nathankurz, can you try this version and let me know whether it fixes the problem? You are both using subfolders, right? ondrej.spacek, this is a known bug and I tried to fix it without successes. nathankurz and thilo, I can't reprod…

Yes, there is a bug in the last versions, which is fixed in 2.3. You can download it from here or wait until it passes the Mozilla review.

Version 2.3 of zotfile is now under review at mozilla with quite some changes. Here is a changelog. A lot of the new features were implemented by community members and the future development of zotfile largely depends on such contributions!

I have added short title as a wildcard. The wildcard is %h (the actual letter used for the wildcard are pretty abitrary by now). I recommend that you use it with the new exclusive wildcards like this `%h|%t` so that you get the normal title when the…

Tschoepler,I can't reproduce that problem (same OS, same version) and I don't think zotfile is the problem...

Chell, missing spaces between words is a problem with certain PDF files in the pdf.js based extraction method. A lot of files won't have that problem. The poppler based extraction (mac only) is better in terms of separating spaces but has problems w…

joshukn: Your problem is related to this Firefox "bug": https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=633154 I am not going to do something about it until they make up there mind but you can enable the confirm alert boxes again or disable confirmatio…

I fixed the problem thanks to adamsmith's help. The new version has already been approved by mozilla.

okay, here is a more verbose version. It should spit out 6 or 7 messages when you try to rename a single item... (same link as above)
-
okay, sorry for that! Everything works for me. Can someone try this version: ... If it doesn't work, I can upload another attempt within a couple of minutes...

That message shows when the selection includes a web attachment. The web attachment is skipped but the others are still processed (there is a similar message for top-level attachments and attachments with missing files).

new versions: 2.2.2 adds an option to change the delimiter between authors (thanks to Gracile) and 2.2.3 now checks whether the selected attachments are valid, which should avoid a lot of errors! Top-level attachments, web attachments, and attachmen…

I won't be able to provide support over the next months - I have to find a job and finish a dissertation. Either someone here on the forum jumps in or you'll have to ask a tech-savvy friend.

@ Keith: Yes, you can renaming existing attachments. Just right click the zotero item or attachment and click 'Manage Attachments-> Rename Existing Attachment'. The change in behavior you observe is because of zotfile's automatic renaming. You ca…

Automatic renaming is enabled by default so that this shouldn't be the problem. You can disable automatic renaming in the advanced setting tab. You can try that and everything should work as it used too but without automatic renaming. You should st…

I can't reproduce the problem. In my case, I get the broken link message when I try to open the file right after it was attached. After waiting a moment, I get the zotfile message for automatic renaming though and everything works fine. Might that b…

Can you give some more details? What are exactly the steps (with url) and how is zotfile set up (most importantly, the location of file setting)?
-
Hi! 1) zotfile uses the attachment note to store information about files on the tablet. It would clearly be better if zotfile did not piggyback on the Zotero database and instead use it's own database. Unfortunately, that won't happen anytime soon.…

Zotfile 2.2 is out. The update should be automatic for most users. Changes in Zotfile 2.2 - New feature: automatic renaming of attachment files (thanks to Robin Wilson) - Bug fix: zotfile produced error when trying to move open files on Windows (th…

Hey samuelcartaxo. sorry, but I don't have time to provide any user support over the next month and won't be able to get into this. Maybe someone else has an idea?
