There are several threads about this and I don't know the best one to use. If there is a better one, I apologize. Please, the issue of publishers providing author names in all-caps is really frustrating for me. Editing each author name is a rea…

Thank you. I presume that would also apply to any ampersands, yes?

AdamSmith / noksagt If I left any confusion, my "yes" (above) was to adamsmith's question about debug. I was still writing my reply to adamsmith while noksagt was writing.

To replicate the problem please go to: http://www.safetylit.org/citations/index.php?fuseaction=citations.archivesearch In the A line, first search field enter "intimate partner violence" (without the quotes) and select textwords+synonyms f…

Yes. Other than a statement that there is an illegal XML character, I didn't find the debug output very helpful. The debut ID is: D1154641749. But that got me thinking when I found another batch of ten records with a download error. Again each indiv…

This seems to be a great resource for helping me to understand the issues. It is more than I expected. Thank you.

I have read as much as I could find but would like more. It is bad enough that some journals include only author initials. The same author's full name can be represented differently depending upon the publishing journal. I am particularly frustrated…

EndNote and Reference Manager both have problems with UTF-8. Indeed, that was the issue that let me to switch to Zotero. I don't know about the most recent version of EndNote but before EndNote 9 unicode didn't import. For later versions, when I pr…

I keep one of my computers free of beta software. I didn't install FF4-beta on it. The FF 4.01 on that machine strongly suggested the update to FF5 beta. Before I installed the beta on any of my computers, I went to the Zotero forum because Zotero i…

I promised an example of a publication that has both and ISSN and a series of ISBNs. Industrial Safety Series (Elsevier) ISSN: 0921-9110 ISBN: 978-0-444-53081-3 ISBN: 978-0-444-52119-4 ISBN: 978-0-444-82881-1 There are many oth…

Silly me. I thought that article listings on the publishers' websites should be the gold standard. I did some further digging and found that these articles are in journals that underwent a title change. Zotero downloads the CORRECT information.…

As I recall, there are several titles published (by Springer and by Elsevier) that are treated as both journals and book series. At any rate, the publications have both an issn that doesn't change and an ISBN that does with each issue/volume. I will…

Please remember to include on import the conditional tag fixes: AB = N2 DO = M3 with the revised version. Also, it would be helpful to test the SN field and (if it is 8 characters without a "-" separating the two four character stri…

Thanks for your quick reply.

The ProCite flavor of the RIS download works flawlessly. (I had been using the Reference Manager download.) There are no doubled final page numbers. The ProCite is the default selection. Thanks.

The new RIS import translator does the job with the abstract and the doi number. However, there is a problem with the page numbers. The final page number is repeated. "367-383" becomes "367-383-383" see the article at: 10.1007/B…

Has there been any movement on the RIS N2 vs AB issue. I find that this is a great frustration when importing things from SpringerLink (especially) and other publishers' sites. Springer uses AB for the abstract and so does Wiley and Taylor and Fran…

A moment ago I wrote to DOAJ again with the information ajlyon and fbennett provided. I also included a link to this discussion. If i get a reply I will share the news.

I'm uncertain, given ajlyon's comments, that you still need this but here is an article level url: http://www.doaj.org/doaj?func=abstract&id=724732&q1=violence&f1=all&b1=and&q2=&f2=all&recNo=356&uiLanguage=en a…

Is there any progress on getting DOAJ article-level metadata in a form that is readable by Zotero? I have written to them and their reply was to point me to the link mentioned above in the Oddible post. I pitched making the DOAJ site Zotero-ready. I…

It seems that "Protective Marking" status is fluid. A document's status at the time it was released may have been relaxed a level or two by the time it is cited. If so, which level should be a part of the citation -- the original classification or t…

Thank you.

Since the 17th of February, the JSTOR translator is no longer adding the hyphen to the downloaded article metadata. The updated translator by ajlyon worked great until recently. I went back to the file that he posted to github (see above) and downlo…

@canarak I am still puzzled about what you meant when you wrote: However, regarding "font size" and "word per line" functions, his knowledge is not accurate. Those two functions DO NOT affect the location numbers in Kindle and Sony, so we …

Other exports also intermittently fail. Please explain what "now fixed on the trunk" means to a user as opposed to a developer. Will I receive an automatic update on this? Is there an action I must take to receive the fix? Will I need to wait …

I had similar problems until I tried registering (free) and logging in with a username and password. My university has subscriptions to the SpringerLink journals but everything seems to work better if I log-in individually and not depend upon being …

I am confused by your sentence. It isn't clear that you are citing a Pardoe publication from 1935 as your source. It could be that your information about Pardoe came from some other source. Further, if Pardoe first reported the phenomenon in 1935, w…

Could this be related to the number of records I try to export? It seems that if I keep the export below about 20 records the export happens almost instantaneously. More and the export process doesn't complete. Mac with 6 GB RAM. FF is the only runn…

I recommend looking further into ajlyon's XML idea. Several times a week, using the PubMed interface (not-Zotero) I select several hundred article records and download them as an xml file. This takes about 2-3 seconds. I then import the xml int…
