@adamsmith Until about a year ago (when they switched to ScholarOne for manuscript submission) all BMJ Group journals published articles used superscript but they required submissions to be Vancouver with reference numbers in parens (or maybe it was…

There are very significant changes with FF 20. These require significant changes to many FF plug-ins. In another thread of this forum it was suggested that a new version of Zotero will be released in a few weeks to work with the FF 20 changes.

I don't have the books of standards handy but the two main cataloging standards require _ one_ publisher location and publisher be listed. There may be more than one location or publisher. If so that is treated as a different version of the book. Th…

If you change a style's formatting you are doing _ nothing_ to the site translators that you use to bring things into Zotero. It should have no effect whatsoever. That said, I wholly agree with adamsmith's comment about changing a standard citatio…

There is a blue research assistant icon at the lower left within Noodle Tools.

@maodushd I know that this is the second time someone is asking for more information, but please say more about what you are trying to do and what version of Zotero you are using (FireFox add-on, stand-alone); what browser you are using, etc. What i…

Do you want to know the directory on your hard drive that contains the file or the collection(s) within your Zotero library that hold the particular item? If the latter, see: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/14274/

Please be sure to save a copy of your working document. That way, if the problem arises again you will have good versions. (I kept 10 sequencial working copies of my doctoral thesis.) Zotero can cope with very long documents. My thesis was 296 pages…

Do I understand that you are making a list of references and that you must present them in groups? You need to describe your progress by narrative to be presented to someone? If I am correct and understand how you want to go about this; I think that…

Niels What operating system? Wnat version of Zotero? To solve your problem it is necessary to know more background. Is your Zotero in the standard place or did you set a custom location? Is this on your computer's drive or on network storage? When y…

I recognize that you are new to Zotero so I'll offer some basic suggestions and ask a few questions. What version of Zotero did you download -- Zotero stand alone or the Firefox plugin? What profile? What word processor? Have you been able to do…

A better solution might be to contact the database management and the journal editors. I did and requested that they improve their metadata availability. If anyone else has a need for CNKI journals, please add your voice to the request. I have not y…

An additional problem is that metadata from many journals is not consistent. The same author may be supplied as: Hecke, Harriet Van; Hecke, H. van; Van Hecke, Harriet M.; van Hecke, H. M.-- even within the same journal title and within volumes havin…

Consult your university librarian for guidance. That is why reference librarians and the librarian(s) assigned to your department exist.

I set out my ethical and other arguments in more detail here: http://www.safetylit.org/theses/LawrenceDW-2008.pdf See pp. 29-33 (42-45 of the pdf).

While there surely are many spammers, I doubt if the absence of an associated _public_ library is a reliable sign that the account belongs to one.

I can't let the statement "... and sometimes even blind quoting also makes sense... " stand without a challenge. It is dishonest to do this. Citing "hollow references" is never a good idea. A citation is a statement that an author of a manuscript af…

Click on the topmost record to highlight it. Move to the last record. Hold down the shift key. Click. All records should be selected. You can select individual records by holding down an OS specific key and clicking on individual records. With Mac …

To clarify my remarks. I provided a use case outside of genealogy. I have no objections to including the compiler as a creator type. I understand that users of MLA and ESM styles would appreciate the type. I probably shouldn't have replied to adamsm…

It is not important to me.

There is a use for "compiler" outside genealogy. Some sort story anthologies are said to have a compiler (not an editor because nothing was altered from the originals). A compiler sometimes adds a sentence or two of comments before or after each st…

Let me guess _exactly_ what you are trying to accomplish. Please confirm that I am correct and answer my questions. You have produced a bibliography using Zotero. You want to paste it at the bottom of a webpage that you developed so that viewers se…

There is a much more simple way to export individual or a several records without sending your entire Zotero library. Select the record(s) in the middle pane, right click, from the menu select export selected item(s), and select the format (in your…

@ Rintze @ aurimas I knew about the CrossRef utility when I added my message above. In my experience, CrossRef gets it wrong as many times as it gets it right. Are you having better luck?

I can see how the volume, issue, pagination metadata can be retrieved if a record already has the DOI or PMID but can this be automated with only the author and title? While PubMed "ePub ahead of print" records are updated after "print", it doesn't …

I cannot replicate your problem because the url you provided and the link to the service provided on the http://kstudy.com homepage never completely loads the page. There is something peculiar about the way that site handles requests.
-
Please provide more details. Where did you obtain the file? URL for source? What version of Zotero? etc.?

Thanks to both of you for your replies. I think that I understand. I hope that this thread is as helpful to others as it has been for me.

I seem to remember working with someone who had the same problem with OOo and we fixed the line spacing in the bibliography by making changes to the Format/styles for that section. If you have already tried this, I apologize for the irrelevancy.
