I'm not sure that I understand your issue. For what it's worth-- Each field has its own edit mode. To get out of a field you can tab. Within a field you can interact two ways. 1) click to highlight/select the text and over-write and 2) click again …

If you are using the Firefox add-in you must also download a plugin for Word. If you are using Zotero standalone, the connection with Word is built-in. You will need to provide more information. See: https://www.zotero.org/support/getting_help W…

Consider the free LibreOffice suite. Several years ago, mshop moved to that software from MS Word. I believe that Zotero integrates better with LibreOffice Writer than with MS Word. We also like the LibreOffice user interface better than that of Wor…

Approaching this from a different perspective, it is common for US government agencies to require PMIDs and PMCIDs in addition to DOIs. The same is true for manuscripts to some publishers. Almost all BioMed Central content is indexed on PubMed. Doe…

When I click in the title field and select or all of the text, the wrap or line break is different from the unselected text. It is almost as though the character size or the kerning differs depending upon the selection status of the text. There are …

Apple _does_ continue to support and sell OS 10.6.8 (http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard) for machines with post-Power PC but less-than-modern microprocessors. That said, Apple has several times announced that suppor…

I set-up metadata availability in the headers of each record of the SafetyLit database and am willing to correspond by email with Center staff about the experience. This was a simple task for my website developers. It required only a few hours of wo…

BMC has also improved the quality of their metadata and pays better attention to character encoding.

The bookmarklet items land in the main user library. If viewed using the default sort-by-date, the items are at the top of the list. I bring bookmarklet items into my local Zotero client through a sync and manage their placement into a collection. W…

Please be more specific in your request. Are you asking how the Center can reveal item metadata so that it may be imported into Zotero? Are you asking how you or others can develop a site translator so that the site's existing pages (without addit…

Just to be clear, are you asking if there is an _online_ Zotero form field into which a DOI or ISBN can be entered and the full metadata be obtained in a single step? This doesn't exist now but I cannot speak to any possible plans. Plan info must c…

This is most likely the result of 1) having more than one record of that item each with different degrees of author name completeness; or 2) having multiple works by that author with different name completeness. Chicago style demands that the most…

At least one of us is misunderstanding the other. I'll bow out so that others can comment and, I hope, be more helpful.

...so it should get the same output Not necessarily. Zotero styles treat the abbreviations appropriately depending upon the style selected. However, when item records are run through BBT that program's influence may change (or not properly interpret…

Although it does look odd. Both major cataloging standards recommend year for the volume. That is, in reality what it is. (Volume numbering doesn't begin with 1. /s) That is the way these items are included in every literature database I know. I …

Perhaps Excel has auto-collapsed the contents of some of the columns where the cells contain large amounts of data. When you click within a cell, does the missing information appear above?

I receive the translator error box message for most of the journal abstract pages on the Peeters site. What can I do to help get Zotero to recognize the DOI strings where this isn't happening. What information can I share about my connection (to the…

While waiting for a translator, you can place each article's DOI into the "magic wand" field and get some of the metadata. Unfortunately, the publisher doesn't provide complete metadata to CrossRef. Also, as with any CrossRef metadata, the abstract …

Getting started is slightly more complicated. See: https://www.zotero.org/support/installation You didn't say which Zotero version you are trying to use. There is a stand-alone that will work with Chrome and Safari. Also there is a plugin for Fire…

The preparation for 2016 is mostly complete. Here is the NLM announcement: https://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/licensee/announce/2016.html#d12_14 Searches using EDat limits aren't yet available but will be soon.

(especially since copyeditors would likely not care much either way) Also, it is important to remember that what appears in the printed or final pdf version of an item is not necessarily the punctuation and formatting that is required for manuscript…

Do you mean that you paste an ISBN into the magic wand utility field using apple-key+v and then press enter/return? How long do you wait?

Try changing your computer and Word character set to UTF8 if the above doesn't work. Zotero should be outputting letters, numbers, and punctuation in UTF8 format. Sometimes Word or Windows on their own revert to Win-1252. If this happened Word will …

Thank you for fixing the repeated information however accented characters in the title and author names are still html entities or something else. The abstract still omits things such as p-values. Please see the following screen shots: https://www.…

Please don't change the style because it 'feels wrong' or 'looks funny' or some other similar reason. The only exceptions to keeping a style as it is should be if some authority (publisher, professor, etc.) provides you with their own required style…

Your reply is helpful as always.

See also, Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, and Emerald journals (Harvard) for ideas. I misunderstood what you said about your professor's style. I thought s/he requested APA but with the quotes and not some other hybrid style. I read yo…

I did a search by example query by adding double quotes around the article title, received many hits (most were APA variants) but only one (Human Resource Management Journal) had quotes (single) around the title. I expected to find Chicago styles bu…

Just to be clear -- Are you asking about the title of the journal itself or the title of the article? Neither of those choices exactly meet APA standards. Are single (') or double (") quotes required?

See: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/54288/apa-6th-edition-doi-issue/ The formatting of the DOI as a web address is correct. The link (above) to the forum thread describes an update to what APA style demands.
