  • This has been a much-discussed topic on this forum. What is a duplicate? Identifying and management of potential duplicates not straightforward. Is an existing record without volume, issue, pagination metadata duplicated by a more recent version …
  • Sorry about the lengthy delay. After a computer restart and opening a fresh Firefox: The first time I right click on a pdf I am able to give the command to retrieve metadata. However the next time I right-click on a pdf I either get a dialog box …
  • No I mean a single click. I'll restart my computer tomorrow before I do anything and if the problem persists I'll send you a video. Thanks.
  • A single journal can have several title abbreviatons depending upon who is citing it (their profession and their nationality) and the target journal that is to receive the manuscript. It appears that Zotero uses a hybrid of NLM-Medline standard abb…
  • Please describe the nature of the problem and what you were doing when it occurred. The report id only provide the error information. It is essential that you explain the context.
  • I am guessing that you are preparing a systematic review. I will offer some unsolicited advice and a couple of comments. None of this will be directly related to Zotero more than to any reference management software. Duplicate identification is as m…
  • I fear that we are not understanding the full nature of Maphi's problems _and_ he or she is not understanding our instructions and questions. My thinking is that (in addition to other issues) there is likely to be a field code that didn't get delet…
  • I'm in a Mac environment. I believe that the FF47 update changed my FF preferences so that (among other things) my preferences default applications were altered. Among the changes my PDF action was changed from "use Preview" to "save file". I said I…
  • "...for the past 2 weeks..." As adamsmith said, there is a misunderstanding. We haven't been working with you for that long so lets begin again. Make a copy of the document as it exists now. Be sure to do nothing to the original document. Working …
  • It is worth repeating that even if the DOIs do not appear in article bibliographies/reference lists; very many publishers want DOIs in the manuscript. Having the DOIs greatly assists reviewers of your manuscript reach the cited articles to verify th…
  • When you edit the style, be sure to change its name/ID as instructed above. Else the next time styles are updated your new style will be overwritten.
  • I just tested this with Zotero 4.0x and Word within Windows. I inserted cites for two similar references that I created for this test, I deleted them from Zotero and added another of the same reference. When I cited the reference again there were in…
  • "The publisher location is listed two times in your first example. That is correct." This is, in my thinking, the strangest part of the issue. Are you sure that the item appears 5 times in text as Maercker, 2013a but in the reference list as 2013a,…
  • Does it make sense to place a statement on each user's online page at introduction that alerts them to the greater power and speed of Zotero client software? Gordonl is far from the only person who didn't realize that, while the Zotero website libra…
  • I guess that I wasn't clear. I was referring to feed items not to items added to a Zotero collection. With SD journal feeds even if I mark feed items as read, the next day the items are marked as unread and if new items have been added to the item l…
  • It appears as (Springer, 2013) in text and not (Maercker, 2013)? That seems strange. Very strange. More questions - What word processor are you using? What version and update of Zotero? What is the record type - book, journal article conf proce…
  • At least with Muse journal feeds, the newest items are at the top. With the SD feeds, newer items can anywhere in the list. If Zotero can devise a way to identify new items notwithstanding the publishers' time stamps, that would be wonderful. No, it…
  • In addition to the ScienceDirect RSS problem where they have set the auto-recognize to a different journal's feed; the same problem of read items being converted to unread occurs each day. I have reported both problems. After several email exchanges…
  • I'm not sure I understand what you want. Are you asking for a system in your own manuscript that forms a 2-way link from in-text citations to the bibliography and from the item in the bibliography back to the text? Are you requesting that each Z…
  • Know that I was not suggesting that a system to strip diacritical marks or added glyphs would be a bad thing to do. There are a number of scripts and utilities that do exactly that. I use one of these on my site. A brief warning is justified so th…
  • Just a comment on how this isn't a simple one-to-one substitution. For example, "ü" -- especially with author names -- can be represented at least 3 ways: ü, u, or eu. The character(s) used with the name of the same person often differs across time …
  • MODS imports are now successful. Thank you.
  • I copied each version of MODS.js to a usb stick for safekeeping. It appears that both the 4.0 and 5.0 versions of the file are exactly the same. Then, I deleted both versions of the file from my hard drive, emptied the trash, verified that no ODS.…
  • I have MODS.js dated 20 Aug 2016 (110 KB) in my translators directory. Thanks
  • Here is a link to a MODS file that will not import into Zotero 5.0 beta r38. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29002616/Child Injury & Maltreatment.xml Thanks
  • You're most welcome. I am pleased to be a small part of your triumph. I've read that improved syncing is to be one of the key benefits of Z5.0 and I thank you for your successful work.
  • The sync went through with no errors. An examination of my library seems to show that everything is in its place. Thank you.
  • Unless Scopus has very recently added such a service, this is not something available. I may be misunderstanding what you want to accomplish. While both Scopus and Web of Knowledge allow citation tracing, I am unaware of any batch option that can o…
  • Neither a Firefox restart nor a full restart of my computer brought the subscriptions back. This is a minor inconvenience for me so I will not restore the subscriptions by using a back-up. In a sense, that makes me an ideal beta-tester of sync.
  • What AdamSmith says. I wasn't clear in referring to the Word add-on.
