The latest version of Zotero is 4.0.29.x (the x number depends upon which flavor of Zotero you are using Firefox or standalone). That isn't likely to be your only issue but you should download the latest version of Zotero from Zotero.org. Particular…

Before anyone can help you must report which version of Zotero you have, what operating system you use, etc. https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems
-
Maybe I can add something here that might help. My apologies for the stream-of-consiousness form. The birth and death record examples gordongrant provides are both data _and_ metadata. Zotero primarily is used to capture, edit, store, and assist wi…

I would cite this as a report -- a specific type of document. It has a title, a corporate author, a publication date, etc. Depending upon the citation style it also has a url.

I don't quite understand the reluctance of the large number of experts writing on the forum to move to the beta. I'm not generally an early adopter but after weeks of early testing 5.0 because of the RSS option, I've been using it exclusively now fo…

Maybe they should install the 5.0 beta. Except for the most esoteric of circumstances (that means I cannot think of even one example) it works as well or better than the latest 4.0.x. The stacked interface version of 5.0 is wonderful. 5.0 beta is …

Thanks

I edited my earlier message to correct the unwanted change from my typed "ampersat" to ampersand. I am referring to the at-sign.

It is the characters that are added by your university proxy that adamsmith needs to see before he can help you. Good luck
-
Edit 3 Please copy the exact URL as displayed in your browser address field. The url may contain a lot of characters that do not seem to be useful, but it is exactly those characters that are needed so that your problem may be diagnosed.

Personally, for an interface to be maximally useful for making edits, I favor the current layout over one that is more visually 'clean' or attractive.

For what it is worth, even database specific translators cannot always get this right because databases aren't consistent . My recommendation is to keep things as they are. New PubMed records (in-process) are provided mostly as-is from the publish…
-
Forcing lower case in translators would make more work. I speak from experience as I use Zotero primarily as an importer, editor, and MODS generator and process almost 1800 titles each day. "Fixing" proper nouns requires thought and effort. Some E…

I've noticed that in PubMed xml export that all narrow-nbsp characters are simply ignored for some publishers' articles.

Are there html entities for non-unicode characters and can those entities be used within Zotero item titles?
-
I believe that KrisJ was asking a question and that "dedicated post in the forums of a post" was intended to be "or" not "of". In other words, should beta questions all be under this sticky or should questions be placed in a [new] thread topic? I al…

When a letter appears after the date when citing a work there are 2 potential reasons. Good, proper reason: You are citing two or more _different_ items by the author that were published during a single year. Reasons due to problems: The same pu…

While I haven't had time to thoroughly vet last night's beta and the new note editor, I have used the 5 beta from the time it was first released. For the past two months, I've only used the 5b standalone. I find that the recent betas are unbreakable…

Am I correct that you are exporting from EndNote and importing into Zotero? For example: to, to Your post is missing some important information. To display it , the tag info should be enclosed in [...tag info not shown... ] you do not need to …

...really a shame that OVID doesn't invest... It was a few years ago that I talked with an OVID representative on behalf of a student and later in another context (I had to conversationally convince someone there that I wasn't capturing their meta…

In effect, "a lot of documents at once" is what GS defines as robot-like behavior. I've seen discussions about a look-up option that once started will s-l-o-w-l-y process a list of requests. I don't recall the status of that idea. Maybe someone will…

If I understand your issue correctly (and I may not understand at all) you have one firefox user profile and within that you have two Zotero accounts. You want to merge the two accounts. Is that correct? You wrote about Zotero accounts and I don't …

Zotero already has the the journal's requested AMA style. See: https://www.zotero.org/support/styles Note that JMPC requests manuscripts follow AMA reference style: http://www.jmcp.org/authorguidelines

@bwiernik That assumes that the recipients already have Zotero accounts. @drjack Do your student invitees already have Zotero accounts? It has been several months but when I thought that the problem was that invitations were not sent it turned out …

adamsmith -- yes. I see, now. Section after year when the article is cited. Do any databases or catalogs provide metadata with journal section in a separate field from the title? It seems even if Zotero were to add a section field to the article typ…

This may be completely unrelated but I have noticed that sometimes Google Scholar has incorrect DOIs. Sometimes the same DOI appears for an item, items the original item cites, and items citing the original item. Curiously, when clicking on a GS lin…

I do not want this comment to be received as an objection to the idea and I'm probably missing something obvious. How is this different from individual journals? Don't these 'sections' and 'parts' each have their own ISSN? Transportation Research by…

All articles in this and other SAGE journals have the Publication year (if the epub year is earlier than the print-publication year) and the subtitle problem. More examples of the character encoding issue: http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1…

Also, see this: https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems Do you have both the Firefox plugin and Zotero standalone? Be sure that you do not have more than one data location. In each Zotero version check the path to your file(s). Is the ea…

...but this isn't really necessary... Allow me to argue that it is necessary. @farooqm is _not_ citing a book chapter (which would require a page range in almost all styles) but is citing a web document. We cannot know if there were any changes t…
