The new PubMed user interface intermittently behaves quite strangely. I haven't paid close attention to exactly how Zotero imports metadata from PubMed. If Zotero is capturing the PubMed ID (pmid) and calling the PubMed API for an XML record (as I…

At the risk of adding my weight to an already creaking limb, without (or outside of) firefox or Zotero Mac services sometimes do not function for me within all/any of my software. edited for clarity

I have a work-around. Although it requires several extra steps. I copy text from WorldCat and paste it to a text editor (that I've set to use UTF-8) and then copy/paste to Zotero from the editor screen. I'm currently using BBEdit on Mac OS but I've …

@hmdan Although I see that you are a long-time Zotero user, Please take time to read the web documents at: https://www.zotero.org/support/ Specifically, read the Quick Start Guide and everything under Using Zotero. These pages will quickly explain…

Ah. Thank you.

ORCID won't be of much help. I know many individuals who have multiple ORCID identifiers.

This seems like an idea for a useful plug-in. The current Zotero UI seems to only allow easy access to the first author. Even then full author names are readily available only after creating a bibliography. There are likely to be authors with commo…

You will need to say more. What word processor and version? What version of Zotero? etc.? https://www.zotero.org/support/getting_help

With more information someone on this forum can reply with very helpful guidance. Please take a few minutes to understand that your question is incomplete. See: https://www.zotero.org/support/styles and https://github.com/citation-style-language…

If you click in the header of the columnar library list (in the year, date added, or date modified columns) you can toggle / choose to sort with most recent entry on top or inversely most distant on top.

@roxanegilmore If you install Zotero on each of your computers, you can then sync each of them to your Zotero account and your information will be available on all of your machines. When you sync, any record you add on one computer will be available…

It is my understanding that the editors of AEM want DOIs with submitted manuscripts to facilitate checking references during the review process. I haven't reviewed a manuscript submitted there in a couple of years but last time I did the references …

For more than a decade the CDC's policy for the MMWR has been to only use the lead author for internal communications. I guess that they treat webpage headers as internal documents. You can almost always get full authorship lists from databases such…

FYI This happened to me today from Terminal after I installed RUST and was experimenting with terminal Rust commands. The permission dialog seemed to be from Terminal and not from the newly installed Rust. It showed up when I made a directory. Edi…

For the past month the Sage website has been having intermittent problems with responsiveness. This affects not only requests from the Zotero client but also links on the site itself -- clicking to view an article from an issue table of contents, se…

I recognize that you are shocked and dismayed about what you did but to receive help you will need to be more specific about exactly what folder you renamed. Perhaps, it might be helpful to say why you renamed the folder (what were you trying to acc…

After you edit a style you must then change the style ID and title at the top do the style, save, and install into Zotero. Else, the next time you start Zotero your edited style will be overwritten by the standard style of the same name.

The issue of dates and the need for issue numbers is complicated even in Great Britain and its colonies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Style_and_New_Style_dates Sometimes (during an extended period of transition) more than one date was assigne…

Titles in each Zotero record should be in "sentence case" to better allow Zotero to properly format according to the chosen style. Some manual editing of fields such as the title field will be needed, such as in the situation you describe. Click ou…

If you change the Zotero item type to book section and fill in the missing fields for each chapter (book name, chapter title, pagination, book editor, chapter author(s), etc.); you might see an improvement when you refresh the document. That said, …

A few questions: Are each of the chapters included as separate records in your Zotero library? Are these records entered as book sections? Do your records include a (different) chapter title and page range? What style are you using? edit: Did you …

Are you asking about a "whole journal" (single issue, single volume, all volumes) item type as opposed to "journal article"? See: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/77043/best-solution-for-journal-issue-as-a-single-unit/p1

See : https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/wiki/Requesting-Styles Please follow step 3, bullet 3 if you want help quickly.

Was my debug (above) not useful? I can try to capture the alert again.

Yes Now I see what you mean.

@bwiernik I wasn't thinking that Zotero would be able to automate this. My hope is that others will follow my recommendation and write to publishers to preface their article number with an "e" or some other character. I've written to the editors of …

The experts will need more information. Until then, did you follow the troubleshooting steps? What is the URL, etc.? Can you capture metadata from any other page at another publisher or database? Did you try restarting your browser?
-
@knaeble As insurance against not noticing missing key metadata items on import; I use the Zotero stacked-view and have "year" and "language" included with the columnar display. It is immediately evident at a glance when these key fields are empty.

@dstillman I thought that it was obviously a given that there was an existing translator for eLibrary.ru. It used to work well. In the past I have used it rather a lot. In the past the database had both excellent embedded metadata and the ability to…
