See: https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/exposing_metadata edit: If you want to see a live example of this visit my website, do a search from the homepage, select a record, and view the page source code. The header tags are where the metadata reside…

If "John Smith" is entered as a single-field author and Smith, John is entered as lastname/firstname then yes those are correctly interpreted as different authors.

@aktiffiso You may not have understood what was said about the great benefit of Zotero. Within reason, you can write using any style and later very easily automatically change to a different bibliographic style. You shouldn't manually edit within…

I'd love it if a Zotero translator could work a miracle and capture the full abstracts from these publishers but without changes in the metadata policies at the publisher this will require a lot of effort. Items from Medline/PubMed with truncated ab…

This is (unpleasant) news to me. I frequently see DOI strings at the end of a sentence and the sentence concludes with a period. When I copy the DOI I exclude the period. I do not immediately test every DOI to see if it resolves before I copy it int…

The Zotero documentation page (see link above) states: 'In this case, you can either go through your library and change all the names that refer to the same person to the exact same form, or you can simply use a style that doesn't disambiguate name…

Please rephrase your question. Are you asking about collections? (Collections are the 'folders' you see below your main Library.) Are you asking about something else? Everything is in your Library (once, unless you have duplicates). Any Zotero recor…

What is the source of your import? Please provide URLs for the pages where you do not get a journal abbreviation. Some sources do not include abbreviations. Test this by importing from PubMed.PubMed metadata contains journal abbreviations.

If someone moved your database to the Mac Documents directory it is akin to a cloud folder/directory. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/354483#Comment_354483

Thank you. I should add that I believe that most of the other enhancements should be quite positive. FWIW I agree that a CSL function that blindly converts citations to sentence case (requiring editing in the document instead of in the PBM record) i…

I hope that someone can reassure me that I have misunderstood the deprecation of "sentence case conversion". There is a recommendation to store records with titles in sentence case, and some styles require sentence case. I routinely use Zotero to on…

Please ask your question using different words (you may ask using a language other than English). Your question could be interpreted several different ways. The words "databases" and "study" are ambiguous. Are you asking about the Zotero collectio…

Thanks for the help. I really should have known about the Abstract Label.

There is another possibility. The Word program can have documents that contain malicious macros. Perhaps the Word document you copied to your manuscript contained such a macro. This has nothing to do with your bibliography items. Unless, and this …

The big hurdle here is that a single version of an item can have multiple OCLC numbers each with somewhat different metadata with different degrees of completeness. An OCLC number can lead you to a single item record but, in my considerable experien…

Thanks.

@adamsmith How can this be brought to the attention of the person responsible for setting the default translator for a journal? I can right-click and select embedded metadata from the dropdown but that is tedious considering that the current defaul…

Is your medRxive paper listed here? https://retractionwatch.com/retraction-watch-database-user-guide/

Embedded metadata is a good way to bring in all of the authors' names in the proper format and the abstract is also imported. However, the abstract is imported with the word "Abstract" at the beginning of the text with no space between "abstract" an…

The import process for that PubMed record provides a complete abstract for me when I use the Zotero icon in my browser bar and also when I use the magic wand to bring the metadata into Zotero. Please provide information about your Zotero version, b…

Please provide examples. Know that Oxford University Press journal articles' abstracts (in their metadata) are 'pre-truncated' by the publisher at a specified number of characters.

What you want already exists for some journal publisher websites and online databases. Hein Online is a database that will limit the quantity of what you can download in a given amount of time. In your browser the save-to-Zotero button will often o…

For the page ranges that are not satisfactory, look at how the pagination is entered in your Zotero records and verify that your entries are similar to the records where minimal format is proper.

Did you copy FROM a document that had existing Zotero reference fields intact or from a document where the reference fields had been removed? In your new document, does your word processor present your text as body text and footnote text or has the…

Something to keep in mind: As a reader of articles or a reviewer of manuscripts I'm always pleased with more information/clarity. However, in academia some professors use reference formatting as a way to deduct from the score of a student's submiss…

In your document, click on the citation you want to change so that it is selected. Then click the Add/Edit citation button. This will produce the Add/Edit citation dialog box where you may add additional citation(s). No, not thick. This is one of th…

Select the citation in your document and click the Zotero Add/Edit Citation icon in your Zotero toolbar. This will bring-up the citation picker dialog box and you can then add additional citations or remove an existing one.

After you have logged in to your Zotero account (if you are reading this you are already logged-in); click on the Web Library link in the menu above. Then, on the far right click on the "Upgrade Storage" blue button. This will take you to a screen w…

Should this discussion lead me to be optimistic?

Thanks. I wish that CNKI would improve.
