If S. Brown and S.A. Brown are indeed the same person you should edit your records so that the most complete author name is used in all of your records (even if a less-complete name is used in one of the publications).

Know that the problem goes a little deeper than that. I do a daily search for items added to the database in the last day. I use the CRDT "2021/01/29` 00:00:01"[CRDT] : "2021/01/29 23:59:59"[CRDT] (for example, knowing that I might miss records adde…

Please provide additional details about your request. Please use other and additional words to describe what you want. Are you asking about the ability to add your own index terms to a record? See tags. You can currently perform searches of your l…

I have been insisting that my students send me their report drafts in pdf. I add comments to the pdf files and return the pdf to the student. Everybody has a record of everything and the student keeps the original document with Zotero fields intact.…

What webpage URL? What browser? This should just work. Right click on the webpage, from the drop-down menu select Zotero connector, then save to Zotero with or without snapshot. I just tested this. On a Windows 10 machine it works with Chrome, Ed…

But the same file when dragged to the add-ons window installs Zutillo without error. Would it be worthwhile for me to uninstall Zutillo and repeat the whole process with debugging active? If you have never had similar reports this could be somehow r…

Allow me to expand on adamsmith's correct assessment of the quality of author name metadata from very reputable publishers. Up until a few years ago my (non-Zotero) database service routinely downloaded article metadata from publisher ftp sites. It …

In the web library to the upper right: click the three dots and follow the drop-down. In the local computer-based version: click the "magic wand".

@bwiernik Thank you!! Interesting. If I use the gear drop-down to install the add-on from file, I receive the error message in my earlier post. If I drag the file into the Add-ons manager it works. Thank you again.

@mgbehomaikenna : "I must confess that I am not internet savvy... " You are sufficiently savvy to use this forum to ask a sensible question and to want to use a personal bibliography manager! The Zotero storage of metadata records (title, authors,…

Are you asking for a thumb-nail of the first page of the item? How might Zotero obtain a licensed image? I ask these questions because my (non-Zotero) own system provides RSS feeds of academic literature that has been newly added to my database. The…

The other day I looked into problems with OVID imports into Zotero for a colleague. I don't remember off hand the exact journals (they were Lippincott WW- published) but _some_ of the OVID RIS and XML metadata had the author names reversed from that…

@dstillman I tried to reproduce the problem mentioned above after I did my usual search and retrieval. My initial PubMed search results produced 980 records. I show these in a series of 50 items/pages. After exporting and importing the resulting nb…

@dstillman Yes. Please do not take the time to make changes to Zotero to accommodate this. I feel sure that PubMed will revert if they receive enough comments. You might consider putting what you wrote above into a comment for the NLM. Somebody gave…

Please do contact them. You can use the "Comment" button at the bottom of a PubMed search results page. I already sent my request about this and received a reply that this was done intentionally "for consistency" across "other feeds". I haven't yet …

Just now, this evening, I went to the OP's linked PubMed search page. I used the Zotero folder icon. When the Zotero box appeared I clicked the select all button. Tonight I downloaded 16 items of the 20. Early this afternoon my search and fetch usin…

Curious: This doesn't need to be the OVID Medline database. I can reproduce this problem in several OVID databases. For journal names beginning with "American," "Canadian," etc. the first word is dropped. However, journal titles such as, Journal o…

Are you clicking the save-multiple (folder) icon and receiving only 8? I tested your link and only was able to import 5 using that method. I've given up on that method because PubMed's rate-limiting is altogether too restrictive. This works well:…

Here is how I keep from going crazy when importing APA-published journal articles. 1 Newly published articles. Visit the journal website. Copy the article DOI and paste it into the Zotero magic wand. Open the abstract using the 'button' under the …

@dstillman please feel free to delete this comment if you believe that I have overstepped. First, I want to say that Dan Stillman, the lead developer of Zotero, has demonstrated time and again on this forum that he is wise, competent, and kind. You…

I spoke too soon. The first occasion of the "extra space" with a line feed was eliminated. However, if there is an extra-long title ( Geospatial and temporal associations between increases in opioid deaths, socioeconomics, and rates of sexually tran…

Thank you I marked the request solved.

FWIW from my point of view as an indexer _both_ versions should be retained even if I added no comments to the original. Consider if you cite the arXiv version in a manuscript that is accepted and published. Later in a second manuscript that you wri…

Here are a few PMIDs. I couldn't immediately find one where the ISSNs for associated journals were included in the nbib but I will when I encounter a record again. 33354351 20201223 33354013 20201223 33036364 You may have a better idea for handli…

Thank you. That was one of several PMIDs that failed. I was able to capture the same records using nbib import. Something seems uncoordinated at the NLM. The problem began Wednesday night at about 9 pm California time.

I will reinforce the idea that Zotero _perfectly_ imports PubMed's nbib file. My problem with nbib files is that PubMed creates the file with mildly annoying flaws. edit NLM support have acknowledged the issue with randomly inserted spaces and pro…

I confirm that PubMed no longer has XML via the GUI. They say that format wasn't well used. Please use the Feedback link to ask that it be reinstated with the new web interface. I have (paper-cut level) problems with the nbib files. Extra spaces r…

@teo.w Curious. That item imports as a journal article for me with the title, author, vol/iss/pagination, DOI, and ISSN. I'm using the 5.0.76 Firefox connector and Zoero 5.0.94-beta.5+2b5a22c13 on Mac 10.15.7 (19H2)
