You were right on the money with the data directory path -- it was (mysteriously) set to a blank custom path, as opposed to the default profile directory. Not sure how that happened, but it's fixed now and everything seems to be functioning. …

fyi, I've already: --re-installed standalone and the extension. --restarted my computer --changed by username/password to only alphanumeric Also, the chrome extension does not save to the standalone. Thanks!
