Problem with Syncing Zotero Server with 2 PCs

CPU #1 Mac OS X 10.5.8 at home
CPU#2 Windows XP at work
Firefox 5.0.1

I am trying to sync 2 computers (1 PC and 1Mac) computers with the Zotero server. I am able to add and successfully sync and pull up documents at each computer independently. I.E. I add a journal article from the local hard drive of my home CPU and it successfully syncs with the Zotero server. However, when I go to work and use CPU#2 and perform a sync I don't see the article I added from home on Zotero even though I can see it on the Zotero website.

I have not received any error messages so please let me know if need to generate a "report error ID".

Thank you!
  • First check to see whether the data in question has synced to your online library on zotero.org. If it hasn't, the problem is on the computer where the data originated. If it has, the problem is on the computer missing the data.
DONE; it's in the online library

Check the green sync icon in the Zotero pane on the relevant computer. If it's still spinning, the sync process hasn't yet completed. Hover over the sync icon to see the current status.
    STOPPED SPINNING

If you see a red error icon to the left of the sync icon, an error has occurred during the sync. Click the icon to view the error. It may give you enough information to fix the problem yourself, or you can report it and post the Report ID to the forums for further assistance.
    NO RED ICON

Also check the Sync pane of the Zotero preferences to make sure you're using the same zotero.org account you're using on the other computers and to log in to the website.
CHECKED AND RE-ENTERED LOGIN AND PASSWORD

I'm still not seeing ALL of the recently added citations. I added 4 citations this AM on my home computer which synced to the Zotero server with no problem. Interestingly, I'm at work and it only pulled in 1 of the 4 citations.

This shouldn't really be possible. Are you sure you're looking in the right place? If you sort your library by Date Added, do you not see the items? And is the date on the item you do see actually from this morning?
  • I'm having a similar problem working between two macs with the latest version of snow leopard, firefox and zotero on both. My imac is syncing with the online library fine but my macbook is not - the green arrow has been spinning for days now. The citations are in the online library.

This is causing problems as I can't add any new citations to my doucment on my macbook without zotero wanting to delete any citations in the document that don't exist in the macbook version. This is very frustrating and disruptive to my work. I have tried everything suggested above and it's still not working.
  • Sarah: Restart Firefox, and start a new thread if you're still having trouble.
