Style error: APA 6th edition

Greetings,

When using the APA style in-text citations, the first and middle initials are included for any two (or more) authors with the same last name, regardless of the specific location of the authors on the list for a given reference, etc. From my understanding, initials should only be provided if (1) there are two authors with the same last name, (b) the authors with the same last name are first author for the references, and (c) the references are single-authored (by two individuals with the same last name) or the list of subsequent authors for both references are the exact same.

Is there any way I can get this changed?

Thanks!
  • Yes. CSL 1.0 supports disambiguation of the first author only. I'll take a look at the CSL 1.0 version of the style, and post back soon.
  • Actually adamsmith beat us to it; the CSL 1.0 version of the style has already been corrected. Visit this page, and save to your desktop. Then (if in Zotero 2.1.6), drag the file into Firefox. For earlier versions, rename the file to from "apa.csl.txt" to "apa.csl", and drag into Firefox.
  • (note that currently standard styles like tend to be overwritten with the old version by Zotero - there is no harm - you can always switch to the new one, but it's good to be aware of this - it's a hick-up of the switch to a new csl version and style repository.
