no spaces in names - spontaneously changed!

Zotero just spontaneously changed all my references in word so that there is no space between the surname and initial of the author, and no editors' surnames anymore! It happened after I added this entry (which obviously shouldn't look like this)
"XiaoY., “Chinese perceptions of African CSOs: How should African CSOs engage China?,” in Chinese and African Perspectives on China in Africa, ed. Harneit-Sievers,, ed. , S., , and , ed. , S. (Oxford: Fahamu, 2010), 218 - 219."
I'm using a slightly edited version of the Chicago style which has worked up until now (I only changed it to show accessed dates for websites) and running version 2.1.5.
I have been entering names into a single field as "Surname, X.", it now seems that zotero has decided to object to the comma?

EDIT: Even if I switch to another style entirely, the problem still exists... any ideas?
  • I have been entering names into a single field as "Surname, X.
that's the issue, yes. Zotero has changed the behavior for single field authors - if you search around some you'll find more on this or Frank can link to one of the relevant threads
  • Ah, thanks. Guess I'll be spending an evening changing them all to two fields! That'll teach me for trying to be clever...
  • When 2.1.6 comes out, the comma will return for single-field entries (that was a processor bug). But it's certainly a good idea to use two-field entry for personal authors. Any adjustments to name formatting can then be made through the citation style.
