Mac Word 2011 + FF4 + 2.1.1 - full author name & page no. pulled in

hi there, I updated a couple of days ago and ever since, every citation I insert in a document that I had been working on (chicago author-date format) now pulls in the author's initials as well as family name and in one case it also pulled in a page number. The chicago author date format has worked fine up to now - just family name + year - unless otherwise specified.

Can anyone advise on what I should do? I've tried reinstalling zotero and the macword plugins.

thanks!
  • Let's start with the page number. Chicago Author-Date includes point-locators (specified via the plugin) in in-text citations, but not page numbers from the database entry. There is literally no path through which the content of the pages field can get into a citation in that style, so if that's happening, something is very wrong. On the other hand, if opening the citation for editing shows a point-locator page number in the word processor plugin, things are working normally. Can you confirm which is the source of the page number?

I hadn't specified a page number so when I open the citation for editing the page number field is blank. So, where it should say (Friedman 2006) it says (TL Friedman 2006,1). I've double checked the settings and I've definitely selected chicago author-date style.

    Thanks for the quick pick-up.

[edit: actually the citation reads (TL Friedman 2006,1:) - so there's also a colon there at the end...]

There is a "1" in the Pages field of the entry? If not, what is the full date recorded in the Date field?

    (Edit: [erroneous comment deleted])
  • In the citation, there is a '1' where page numbers usually go.

In the full record the date is just 2006. The only '1' I can see in the full record is in the 'Volume' field where it says '1st updated and expanded'
  • Something very odd is going on here. Set aside a copy of your document and of the zotero.sqlite file; the Zotero development team might want to take a look at them. Information on how to locate the zotero.sqlite file is here (stop Firefox before making the copy):

  • Time to hit the hay here, but just in case, have you been through the recommended troubleshooting steps. (Good luck, hope you get it sorted.)
