Zotero won't open #775831026

775831026

latest update.
  • 1) You're aware you're using a dev build?

    2) "won't open" isn't specific enough.

    3) No Zotero errors are logged in there.
  • 1) Yes, 3.0a1.r8680

    2) click zotero icon
"Alert" window = ! There was an error starting Zotero

middle pane of Zotero contains the message:
"""An error has ocurred. Please restart Firefox.

You can report this error by selecting "Report Errors..." from the Actions(gear) menu."""

    Did that. #1430884933

Indeed, lots of errors, didn't see Zotero mentioned.

Same on Firefox 3.6.15 and Minefield trunk
  • - clicking the "X" to close the Zotero window brings back the Alert
"There was an error starting Zotero"
The Zotero window will not close
  • same version, same problems as mentioned :-(
  • Have you tried disabling all your other Firefox extensions?
  • I think this was caused by an invalid regexp in the NYTimes translator. You can try resetting translators in Zotero Preferences->Advanced. If that doesn't work, delete the translators subdirectory in your Zotero data directory.
  • Updating to r8683 should also fix this.
  • update to r8685 solved the problems
  • r8685 will not work for me. Same problem described here. Upgraded to FF4.0 yesterday, but FF would not start. In safe mode, removing Zotero will allow start. Trunk working fine until yesterday.

  • Okay, try r8691, which should be built in about five minutes.
  • Can you comment on what was wrong with the NYTimes regexes? Are capturing parentheses never OK?
  • Success with r8691. Thank you very much.
