AGU translator misses date

I've just added some items to zotero from the AGU size (agu.org) and noticed that the entries are consistently missing the date, e.g.

http://www.agu.org/journals/ABS/1991/90GL02591.shtml

It also enters "PP. 249-252" into the page field, instead of just the page numbers, and doesn't save the abstract - but these are minor - missing the date is a bit more of a pain..

Cheers, Mark
  • Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/AGU Journals.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

It should start working again. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.

It's pretty much a rewrite, so test carefully please.
  • This version is working great for me. It works not at all on the full text site (e.g. http://www.agu.org/journals/gl/gl1122/2011GL049799/) but quite well on the abstract site (e.g. http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/2011/2011GL049799.shtml) It gets the date and the pdf, and it appears to work for all years of the AGU journals.

The only problem I had with the crossref site is with the page numbers. For later years there's only the one page number--L22305, for example. I added something at line 129 to account for this. But what I did still doesn't work for one case--when AGU gives the first page and the number of pages, such as in http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/2002/2002GL015397.shtml.

    Thanks!
  • Ajlyon - afaict Zotero still ships with the old version - would you commit the new one? It seems much more sensible to me to actually use the metadata on the pages. I'd imagine the new translator should also be able to handle full text pages if we're able to point it to the right frame.
