invalid XML character

Hi,

I am trying to move my thesis (massive document) over to openoffice because zotero is too slow in word (wrd 2011, Mac OSx 10.6.5). I installed the plug-in okay but I get this message when I try to enter a citation.

invalid XML character.

I have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a feeling you're going to have to list more details of how you got to the point of entering a citation in OOo.

    Also, version information for Zotero and the plug-in?

    and try a different citation style - this sounds like a style error to me (?).

    Thanks all. I'll try and give some more details..

    I have Zotero 2.0.9 and OOo 3.2.1 and I installed zotero-openoffice plugin-3.0bz. I then saved my document in word keeping the 2008 format and then opened in OOo. The plug-in is installed, as I have the toolbar, but anything I try to do with zotero I get this message;

    Zotero experienced an error updating your document

    illegal XML character
