Aren't there too much backups of sqlite database?

I have just looked inside zotero's directory. Why there exist too much backup files ?
Is it possible to somehow configure zotero backup ?

zotero.sqlite.1.bak.4
zotero.sqlite.1.bak.5
zotero.sqlite.1.bak.6
zotero.sqlite.1.bak.7
zotero.sqlite.1.bak.8
zotero.sqlite.bak
zotero.sqlite.bak.1
zotero.sqlite.bak.2
zotero.sqlite.bak.3
zotero.sqlite.bak.4
zotero.sqlite.bak.5
zotero.sqlite.bak.6
zotero.sqlite.bak.7
zotero.sqlite.bak.8
zotero.sqlite.bak.9
zotero.sqlite-journal
zotero.sqlite-journal.1
  • There shouldn't be so many backups. There's a preference in about:config that can change that-- search for "zotero" and "backup" in the about:config window and see what it is set to.
  • Thanks for the quick response.

    Related fields are all default:

    extensions.zotero.backup.interval 1440
    extensions.zotero.backup.numBackups 2

Actually, looking closer I've found that most of those backup files are from Jule/August 2010. And there is exactly 2 backup files dated in October. So, I assume that current version of Zotero is OK and that extra backup files remained from previous versions.
  • In that case, you can delete all the old ones and you don't need to change the backup settings. Keep on eye on the folder -- if this happens again, we'll have to figure out what's happening.
  • Those backups were not made by Zotero.
  • Just for information: I have following 3 backup files in my Zotero folder:

    zotero.sqlite.bak
    zotero.sqlite.1.bak
    zotero.sqlite.72.bak (!)

The same default settings as above. The file 72.bak is an older one.
  • ben58: Those files are fine and expected. Unrelated to this thread.
