Style Request: Animal Behaviour
The journal, Animal Behaviour, requires some especially tricky sorting in their references section:
Cite references in the reference list in alphabetical, and then chronological, order according to the authors' surname and date. To help readers locate 'et al.' citations with the same first authors in the reference list, list references with three (or more) names after those with two, by date, as in the following sequence:
Marin & Silva 1992
Marin, Silva & Lopez 1986
Marin, Lopez & Silva 1989

Other than this, I have managed to stumble/bumble my way through creating a functional .csl for Animal Behaviour, but the above requirement leaves me stumped!

This is a very complicated search string that would involve an "if" depending on the number of authors.
Afaik neither can Zotero sort by the number of authors, nor can you use "choose - if" on the sort command for the bibliography. Maybe Frank can weigh in if there is any chance this will be possible in the future.
thanks
Otherwise you'll probably have to request it or write it yourself:

I'm working on submitting it to Trac now. I'll post again once it's available. Thanks for the reminder, cumuluss.
PS--I am female.
sorry about gender confusion!
PS--User feedback on improving the style is always appreciated!
I corrected some minor mistakes in the style (add collapse by year, change the delimiter-precede-last option and the demote-non-dropping-particle to never).
And I was wondering if the sorting function is now possible ?
Thanks

I just noticed that the AGU CSL style doesn't actually use this more advanced sorting mechanism yet.
I uploaded the style here : https://gist.github.com/1253781
Btw. consider adding default locale's to journal styles.
