Upgrade Wizard hangs

Browser: Firefox 3.5.8

After installing Zotero 2.0 and restarting Firefox with the debug log running, the upgrade wizard seems to hang. The upgrade wizard status bar is striped and motionless, the Activity Monitor shows Firefox not responding (%CPU<1.0), and the last log entry in the Terminal is "zotero(5): REINDEX"

The computer has been allowed to run in this state for as long as eight hours with no change.

Current zotero.sqlite file size is 72.6MB, and the "Storage" folder holds approx. 97,000 items (as noted during backup).

Database has been checked and repaired using the online database repair tool.

I have successfully reverted to zotero 1.0.10, but cannot upgrade to Firefox 3.6 unless I upgrade to Zotero 2.0 or choose to stop using my Zotero database.

Is there a solution to this problem?

    This certainly shouldn't happen, but try upgrading to Firefox 3.6 first and then upgrading Zotero. Watch for both CPU usage and disk activity.

    Success. I had not thought to monitor disk activity. I upgraded to Firefox 3.6, upgraded to Zotero 2.0, forgot to start the debug log, and left my computer alone for ten hours.

    My database now appears in Zotero 2.0
