Style request: Ophthalmology

I would be very appreciative if anyone could set up the style for the journal "Ophthalmology."

Here are the details...
The style is similar to AMA with the following changes:

Journal Article:
-no issue numbers (but use suppl if supplement). so, it will read: "year;vol:page-page" (with no spaces)
-delete digits when in same range (ie. 120-125 becomes 120-5)
-no period between journal title and year published
-do not italicize journal title
-for # of authors: cite 4 if 4 or fewer; if 5 or more authors cite first 3 followed by "et al."

Book:
-no italics for book title
-before publisher name include location, colon and a space (Location: Publisher)
-following year of publication, include colon (no space) and then page number for specific material being cited (not sure how this would be done...)

Thank you VERY much for your help!
Best,
Josh

if you need to see the journal's style guide for any reason, it's here:

    go here
    http://gist.github.com/310893
download using the "Raw" link on the top right.
Install by dragging the downloaded file ophthalmology.csl to an open FF window, click OK when prompted to install.

Please report back here with any problems or to say that everything works.
collapsing page numbers is not currently possible in Zotero.
Including page ranges for books is not possible either. You will have to do that manually at the end.
  • Thank you so much! It looks good except for one thing I noticed:

-There shouldn't be any periods at all in the abbreviated journal title.

I apologize for not noting this in my original post.

    Thanks again for your help,
    Josh
  • I understand that this isn't currently possible, although it is planned for a future release. At the moment, Zotero just takes whatever is in the "Journal Abbr" field.

Before you remove all the periods from your Zotero library, though, be warned that the ability to remove them may well come before the ability to add them back on as the former is simpler than the latter. You might want to edit your bibliography manually.

Hopefully progress will be made on this soon as other styles need it too:

  • James-thank for the info. I'll just take care of this issue manually, as you suggested.

  • The Opthalmology style is now up n the new csl 1.0 repository at https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles and will eventually move to citationstyles.org
periods are stripped from Journal abbreviations.
