Running FireFox & Zotero from external hard drive

I'm sure there is a good explanation somewhere on how to run totally portable Zotero system on an external hard drive, but I can't seem to find it, and I can't spend any more time looking a the moment... So if someone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

But, here's my take:

1. I'm assuming it can be done on an external hard drive (and not just a pen drive)

2. Is it as simple as installing Portable FireFox? There is no "portable apps management program to install first?

3. Then, just fire up FireFox and install Zotero? Zotero will automatically install on the external drive?

I'm a little paranoid (oh, you noticed?) If never worked with portable apps before and I'm setting this up for a fellow student who is from Angola, so I want to get it right the first time.

Just to be clear. He wants the whole shootin match on the hard drive. Self contained to take with him and use on any computer.

Is it really as simple as it seems like it should be?
Any pitfalls to be aware of?

Thanks for you help (and for putting up with my ramblings).
