Is it possible to find the previous zotero.sqlite.bak files?

Hiii this is my first post.

I accidentally deleted all the files under the "Unfiled Items". I found that the associated "Addon Item" was also removed which means all my reading progress indicators for my items have disappeared :((((((
Half an hour ago, I found a solution: I disabled "Sync automatically" and found my "zotero.sqlite.bak" to change the version of my library items. It worked!
But then I re-enabled synchronization automatically (I don't know why I did that) and restarted Zotero several times. So both "zotero.sqlite" and "zotero.sqlite.bak" files were updated multiple times so that I I can't find the version from half an hour ago.
May I ask if it would be any possible to find that previous zotero.sqlite.bak file? Thanks!
  • There should be even older zotero.sqlite.1.bak. Beyond that, only if you have some other backup of the files. (Our restore instructions say to make a copy of all zotero.sqlite files before changing anything.)
  • Hiii thanks for your reply. I found "zotero.sqlite.1.bak" when I first attempted to repair my files and it worked. But it was then overwritten as I changed its file name to "zotero.sqlite" and redid the auto-synic and I didn’t have a backup of the previous versions. Fortunately, the loss wasn't too significant though I did lose the reading progress indicators I’d accumulated over several years.
But I have another question: the file "zotero.sqlite.1.bak" is no longer being automatically generated in the data directory. How can I make it work again? Thanks!
