Google Docs integration keeps getting stuck after a few citations. I have to restart Zotero every ti

I'm honestly getting really frustrated with this issue. I've been dealing with it repeatedly while working on my academic document, and it's making something as simple as adding citations unnecessarily difficult.

Here's what's happening.

I open Zotero, go to Google Docs, and start adding citations. Everything works fine at first, usually for about 3 or 4 citations. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Zotero gets stuck.

When I try to add another citation, I get this message:

"A word processor integration command is already running."

And that's it. I can't add any more citations. Waiting doesn't seem to help either. The only thing that consistently gets it working again is completely restarting Zotero.

But here's the frustrating part: after restarting, it works for a few citations, and then the exact same thing happens again. So I end up in this ridiculous cycle of adding citations, getting stuck, restarting Zotero, and repeating everything.

I've also noticed that Zotero sometimes asks me to authorize my Google account again, even though I literally just authorized it a few minutes earlier. At one point, I was getting authorization prompts over and over again.

Initially, I thought this might be because I had multiple Google accounts signed in. So I signed out of the other accounts and left only one account and browser profile. Unfortunately, that didn't fix anything. It still got stuck after a few successful citations.

One thing I suspect might be triggering this is how quickly I add citations. Sometimes I add the next one less than 10 seconds after the previous citation appears to have finished. But even if that's the trigger, I don't understand why Zotero gets stuck indefinitely instead of recovering after a few seconds. I shouldn't have to restart the entire application just because I added citations too quickly.

I managed to capture some debug output when it happened:

HTTP/1.0 503 Service Unavailable
Integration transaction is already in progress

Integration: Request already in progress;
not executing http addEditCitation

There was also this JavaScript error:

TypeError:
this.ownerGlobal.gBrowser.getTabForBrowser
is not a function

The stack trace mentions onPageHide, openWindowPrompt, alert, and Zotero.Integration.shouldAbortCommand.

For reference, I'm using:

- Zotero Desktop 10.0.6 (64-bit)
- Zotero Connector 5.0.217
- Google Chrome 156.0.0.0
- Windows 11 (build 26200)

I also found another report describing very similar behavior:
https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/133944/google-docs-integration-intermittently-fails-after-first-citation-zotero-9-0-6

I'm not sure whether the repeated Google authorization prompts and the stuck integration are related, but both have been happening during the same workflow.

I understand that Google Docs integration can be complicated, especially with longer documents. But this is seriously disrupting my work. I'm spending more time restarting Zotero and dealing with authorization prompts than actually adding citations.

What bothers me the most is that once it gets stuck, it never seems to recover on its own. If a previous citation command is still running, shouldn't Zotero eventually finish it, time out, or at least let me cancel it without restarting the whole application?

Given how consistently this happens and how it requires restarting Zotero every time, could this be investigated as a regression and tracked as a bug if confirmed?

I'd really appreciate it if the developers could look into this. I'm happy to provide additional debugging information if needed. I just want to be able to add citations normally without constantly worrying about when Zotero is going to break again.
