Different collection show different columns
At present, all the collection columns are the same, but some collection are books, some collection are papers, may need to display different columns, if it is same, some columns may be has no practical significance, so I hope to add different collections display different columns

For example, when I have a full book, I want to see different columns than a book section. For the section, I'm wanting to see the pages and short title in the listing, but for a book, I want to see the ISBN or edition.
I'd also like to be able to see the title of the book that the book section relates to, but that's not even an option at this time.
Having different columns in different collections, as @baileichao asked for, could be possible (though would be fairly annoying to manage, which is one reason we haven't done it), but that wouldn't have anything to do with item types unless you manually maintained collections based on item type or used a series of saved searches for specific item types. Yes it is. "Book Title" is just "Publication".
I use Zotero for scientific papers, technical standards, and user manuals, and these collections have different display needs:
- For scientific papers, I would like the Creator column first, with entries sorted by the author’s last name.
- For most other collections, I would prefer the Title column first and sorting by title.
- In my collections of manuals and standards, the author field is often empty. Hiding the Creator column would free up space for more useful information.
The settings I would like Zotero to remember per collection are column visibility, column order and width, and the sorting field and direction. These would be collection-specific views, rather than layouts that change automatically according to item type.
To address the concern about managing multiple configurations, could all collections continue to use a shared default, with an optional “Use custom view for this collection” setting? Only collections explicitly customized would differ, and a “Reset to default view” option would make it easy to revert.
This would preserve the current behavior for users who prefer a consistent layout, while avoiding repeated manual adjustments for those of us working with different kinds of material.
