Hello Zotero Support Team,

I’m reaching out because Zotero’s citation function is not working for me in Microsoft Word. Despite trying the troubleshooting steps, I have been unable to resolve the issue and need further technical support.

When I attempt to insert or edit a citation, it will not link it at all.
There is update that is being offerer, but i am scared if i update zotero, will that delete the work i have done/ the citations i already made and how they linked?

I have already tried:

Closing and restarting both Zotero and Word.

Restarting my computer.

Checking for updates to Zotero and Word.

Ensuring Zotero is open while using the citation function.

Checking that the Zotero add-in is installed and enabled in Word.

Reinstalling the Word plugin through Zotero’s settings.

Testing the citation function in a new, blank document.

Refreshing citations and checking the document’s citation-style settings.

Disabling Track Changes and testing again.

Following the relevant troubleshooting instructions in Zotero’s documentation.

The issue remains unresolved and is interfering with my academic writing. Could someone please help identify the cause and provide next steps beyond the troubleshooting I have already completed?
