PDF reader is unusably slow on Windows 11

Hello, some basic PDF like https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(26)01714-9/fulltext
https://doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(26)01714-9

Which works just fine on any browser which uses javascript to render the PDF. It is impossibly slow to read on WIndows 11. 64bit 10.0.6.

It just displays white pages "forever", and a spinner spins and spins and after a while ONE MORE PAGE displays.

Expected result is instead: the full page displays instantly and you can flick around the PDF instantly without any delay on seeing the contents.
  • I'm seeing this without lag (in W11 though using the beta). Can you try in Zotero with troubleshooting mode (Help menu)?

Here is a Youtube video of a screen recording browsing the PDF:

Browsing the PDF in Troubleshooting mode is as slow as in regular mode. I am not using any plugins.

Is it only this PDF or others? If only this one, send the exact copy you have to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread and we can take a look.

What are the hardware specs on this machine? RAM and graphics card?

Have you tried restarting your computer? Are you running third-party antivirus software or something else that could be slowing down the computer? Are you using unusual display scaling?

Can you provide a Debug ID for scrolling a few pages in the reader?
  • (I see the same as adamsmith: important lag with Zotero 10.0.6. Almost no lag with Zotero 11.0-beta.1. Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS)
