Upgrade StoragePort-forwarding and Chromebook?

on https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/installing_on_a_chromebook it is written for the port forwarding option that "This step may no longer be required on current versions of ChromeOS".
I am trying to help a student debugging the install on her computer and would like to know which is the most recent version on which it should work without installing extra software.

symacAnswering to myself in case that can help. The step 4 is indeed no longer needed on actual chromebook. And if you try to install the tool suggested (Connection Forwarder), the computer will tell you that it's not supported anymore.
