Help: My Zotero account suddenly reverted to an earlier state.

At 8:30 PM on October 8th, I noticed that Zotero's status suddenly reverted to 1:25 on October 8th. All files and folders within my Zotero library also showed a time of 1:25. This resulted in the complete loss of all downloads, notes, and annotations throughout the day. I had not enabled automatic syncing, and I'm unsure what's happening. Also, my daily backup from October 7th is useless for recovering today's work.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Zotero's status". Times in your Zotero data directory, or your Zotero library?

But this would be something on your system — e.g., having your data directory in a cloud storage folder.

If your zotero.sqlite database was corrupted (usually also due to the storage location), Zotero could automatically try reverting to the last automatic backup, but it would tell you it was doing that, and there would still be attachments in the 'storage' folder that were more recent.

Nothing else in Zotero would cause this.

@dstillman Local logging of official updates:

    - 01:25:36:`Performing a staged update`; Installation directory 'D: zotero7', working directory 'D:\zotero7\updated'.
    - 20:48:03:`Performing a replace request`。
    -20:48:03: Rename 'D:\zotero7' to 'D:\zotero7. bak'.
    -20:48:03: Rename 'D:\zotero7. bak/updated' to 'D:\zotero7'.
-20:48:03 – 07: Clean up the old directory. One failure in the log is that the old updater.exe is still occupied; The current 'D:\zotero7. bak' no longer exists.
-The update record is clearly upgraded from 10.0.5 to 10.0.6.
This causes my storage directory to be replaced directly, and the original backup directory file D:\zotero7. bak cannot be found on the computer

If you're saying you set your data directory to the same as your application directory, that's a totally invalid configuration for any application. Program files and data files should never be mixed. The data directory setting is in the Advanced tab for a reason — if you don't understand the technical details, you should not use it. There's absolutely no bug here.
  • @dstillman Is there no way to recover it ?
  • Only with some backup you made. Or if you had been using Zotero syncing, it would have automatically pulled down the more recent data.
