Feature Request: Keyboard Shortcut for Scrolling and Annotation
Zotero is the best literature management software I've ever used.
Its Reading Mode is aesthetic too.
However, it didn't support keyboard shortcut well like most of PDF Readers do.
It's an important feature could be added to next release and greatly improve user experience imho.
I highly recommend add following shortcuts:
- j/k for scroll down/up (It's an classical vim style shortcut. It's been used in Sumatra PDF and other popular PDF Readers.)
- NumKey(1,2,3,4) to select annotation tools(highlight, underline, sticker, text) (It's also a norm to use NumKey to select tool in most of popular PDF Readers)
I hope the zotero dev team could see this post and take a consideration.
Best Regards,
Yao

I use Zotero 7 on a Samsung 2-in-1 laptop with a digitizer pen (S Pen) for academic reading. The reader's annotations are great, but pen/touch handling makes real use difficult. Three concrete pain points, each with a suggestion:
1. No touch/pen distinction (no palm/touch rejection). When a highlight tool is active, dragging with a finger creates a highlight instead of scrolling. On a touchscreen I naturally expect finger = scroll/pan, pen = annotate. Right now I must press Esc to deactivate the tool every time I want to scroll, then reactivate it.
→ Request: treat finger touch as navigation and pen as annotation, or add a "touch scrolls only" toggle / palm rejection.
2. Stylus side-button unsupported. My pen has a side button; in most note apps, holding it erases (or toggles the eraser). Zotero doesn't respond to the pen button at all.
→ Request: support the stylus barrel button (e.g., hold-to-erase, or a configurable action).
3. No undo for annotations. Ctrl+Z doesn't undo a highlight or ink stroke — I can only select and delete. Mis-strokes with a pen are frequent.
→ Request: Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y undo-redo for annotation actions.
Together these would make Zotero usable as a pen-first reader on Windows touch devices. Thank you for the excellent work.
